A great device. I put one on the transmission pan ...
A great device. I put one on the transmission pan of my 2005 VW Passat TDI. I have talked to many friends in the auto business and they have never heard of this! My magnet has been on the tranny pan for several weeks and the trouble light has not returned. I'm thinking that now my next step will be to drain the fluid and then remove the pan and clean out what will probably look like "Chia pet" iron particles from it before replacing the filter and refilling with new fluid.

... this magnet disk is too smooth and almost mirror like. If the oil filter is vertical
The surface of this magnet disk is too smooth and almost mirror like. If the oil filter is vertical, it is probably OK. But if the filter and the magnet is horizontally installed, there is a chance the magnet will slip away from its position. It happened to my car. My solution was to coat it with a layer of latex coating. So the surface will become less slippery. It solved the problem.

2 Parts....2 Stars
The magnet is strong enough however, it comes with a gasket to hold it on the front of your filter so it won't wobble. My last one didn't have a gasket and the magnet was thicker.Gaskets get lost by oil change guys.Heck, they lost my last magnet!Especially if they don't know the rubber gasket is in there.Pass.....Unless you change your own oil.

Slap it on the oil filter/pan and give yourself some peace of mind...
I put this magnet on a Mobil 1-110 oil filter on my 2008 Xterra. I did some wheeling and mudding and it stayed on the filter. Now the real question: is it holding any small particles inside the oil filer? Anyhow, it does provide some peace of mind.Note: I opted not to put the silicone O-ring on, and instead Plasti-dip the magnet for added protection and grip. I will try and open up my oil filter on the next change and see if it held any metal shavings/dust.

This magnet is perfect. I put silicone on the "O" ring included in the package and stuck it to the back of the magnet, let dry then attached the magnet with the "O" ring towards the oil filter and it holds great. This is a marine application on a Universal M2-12 w 960 hours.

Each magnet is taped with several layers of cardboard to avoid shipping problems
This is a very strong magnet. I was pleasantly surprised by the strong pull and quality of this magnet. Although a little pricey, the magnets are so strong that each magnet is taped with several layers of cardboard to avoid shipping problems. You will not be disappointed!

easy to install powerful magnet
This magnet is very easy to install just attach it to your oil filter - that's it!Being a magnet and due to the fact that every oil filter is of steel you needno clue or whatever to attach it. Only fits to flat oil filter without screw on it.
