"River of Compassion " by Bede Griffiths
I have just started reading this enlightening and exciting , revealing commentary by Bede Griffiths I feel this is the clarity I have been awaiting .From his rich and unique experience and meditative practice derived from the best of Western and Eastern practice Bede Griffiths describes the historical context of the Vedas, the earliest Hindu Scriptures ,the Upanishads, the last part written about 600 B C and the Gita written not long after these. He brings the message and meaning of the Bhagavad Gita to be seen in the context of the Gospel .The most important is the " devotion to a personal God" of the Gita and the way of "finding God through service of one's neighbour" He wants to show a Christian " how the Gita can be a guide to anyone on the spiritual path" Here are many hours of contemplative guided study .It shows how the message of the Gita sheds new light on many aspects of the Gospel" and how the Bhagavad Gita " gathers new meaning when seen in the perspective of the Gospel"This work by Venerable Bede Griffiths is a treasure as it brings these revelations to our understanding

The Christian Gita
As always Fr. Bede seeks to find common ground between East and West. This book is his commentary on the classic Bhagavad Gita. It is insightful. It will help Christians see Christ in a new way and perhaps help Hindus understand him as well.
