Great Collection of Eula's Fashion Illustrations
This is a Great Book. Joe Eula was an amazing Fashion Illustrator. One of the true originals who actually captured fashion as it walked the runway. An art form lost in today's modern world. As a result Joe Eula had the ability to capture fashion with simple strokes and minimal lines making it look so easy. When he went with extensive details the images were simply breathtaking.Joe Eula was also the “house artist” for Yves Saint Laurent, Coco Chanel, Hubert de Givenchy, Gianni Versace, Christian Dior and Karl Lagerfeld. In 1970 Eula became the Creative Director at Halston helping to define the Halston image that endures today. His friendship with musicians led him to create their concert posters and album covers for legends like Miles Davis, Liza Minnelli and the Supremes. He also designed costumes for the Broadway shows Dances at the Gatherings (1969) and The Goldberg Variations; and for the New York City ballet company. His costume creations for the Broadway production Private Lives earned him a Tony. In the 80’s Eula designed chinaware for Tiffany’s.This book offers many of his iconic images along with his sketches. A must have for the fashion illustrator enthusiast. I often refer to this book for inspiration when I draw fashion. Its one of my favorites.

A beautiful, delightful book
Many, many, many years ago I took some classes at Rhode Island School of Design. I thought I wanted to be an artist but life took me in a different direction. However, I still love art and clothes, so fashion illustration holds a special fascination for me. This book is a treasure of amazing artwork. I love looking at the illustrations and at the drawing technique. A true masterwork.

to capture the beauty of Fashion in the great houses of the day-YSL
Ms. Cathy Horyn wrote a most intriguing portrayal of a genius with his eye and hand to paper, to capture the beauty of Fashion in the great houses of the day-YSL, Givenchy-Chanel...--long before the click click of photographers were due entrance. This book is a feast for the eye- days long gone by. A must have for those keen to Fashion. A lovely display.
