iSesamo® - essential tool to Open and Repair, compatible with iPad, iPhone, Tablet, Smartphone

Like one person who gave the iSesamo one star because he thought it a fake, I received an identical one to his, so sent a picture of it to Dotterpod, the makers, for confirmation. Within an hour I got a response saying that, indeed, it was the real McCoy and that Sintech are one of their best resellers.I hope that the chap who was doubtful hasn't just binned it !!

To be honest, I expected this to work better than it did. As a tool that's designed specifically for opening gadgets, I optimistically thought this would make the process a breeze - far from it!I used the iSesamo to open an iPod Classic so that I could upgrade the hard drive for a larger capacity SSD. There's a YouTube video where a guy uses X-Acto blades for this task, and he makes it look a lot easier. I was worried about slicing my fingers, so went for the iSesamo instead. I managed to get it done eventually, but used 3 iSesamo tools simultaneously to do the job - you need to have some wedged in against the clips you've already loosened so you can work on the next one.Pros:The tool is comfortable to use - it has a kind of padded section to hold it byIt's very thinIt's very strong - I didn't feel at any time that the tool was going to bendCons:It's not quite thin enough - I ended up damaging the iPod case quite severely, but that may have been because one of the clips was fiendishly difficult to releaseThis was the first time I'd tried to open an iPod, so I would put the damage I made down to my lack of expertise rather than the tool. But having said that, despite being made for the job, the iSesamo doesn't really make the job much easier. If you plan to do something like this, I would recommend watching lots of online instructions first, and ordering spare case parts (available from several sources on eBay) before you make the attempt; apart from being a good back-up in case you make a mess, as I did, the case parts let you see how the clips work and where you need to place the iSesamo tools to release them.

The tool is well made and strong. It does the job.
