Beautiful knife in terms of looks. Edge needed some work tho. Company didnt care one bit.
Sunlong is Chinese not Japanese so dont be fooled and it's not white/bluè Japanese 60+ HARDNESS high carbon steel (that rusts). Nor is it vG10 , AUS10. SG2 japanese stainless steel cladding on a good core thats stainless. BETTER JUST BUY A WALSTRONG GERMAN 56-58 HARDNESS WHICH JAMIEE OLIVER AND RAMSEY USE EVERY DAY form£80 and sharpen with a simple honing rod. Or go for a proper japanese 58-60+ 8 inch chef knjfe which will require wetsones. My choice is hajegato....just AMAZING japanese in every way but madevin hong kong so u pay one third of the price (and what AMAZING customer service youll get)! Or go for a Dalstrong Chinese knife but again AMAZING quality.Look at these sunlong prices?....£80 for an 8 inch sunlong chefs knife but $300+ for a 6inch nakiri? What??..?...i tried talking to them but their customer service doesnt exist. They dont care at all. I dont trust the steel they say it is or the wood on the handle. And like other reviews my blade edge needed a lot of work. It went left then right and back again (unlike hajegato or Dalstrong which are perfect out the box). I tried talking to them but they basically said f-off but in nicer words. I spent more getting a good edge than i spent on the knife itself. And the handle while beautifully made isnt ebony like they claimed in my advert. Stained dark doesnt make it ebony and no bone between blade and handls like proper japanese knives. But they want £260 for a 6inch nakiri with a bone handle. And all antlers shed off every year after mateing and can be picked up for free? I wont buy again.
