Solid review of the math behind the geodesic world.
Great book for those fascinated with geodesic geometry. I built a large dome a few years ago and this has helped me truly understand the math behind it for the next project.

The New Dome Builder's "Bible"
I don't like to spend money on information that I can get for free. I found plenty of free information about geodesics on the web, but not enough.I'm glad I spent the cash. This book filled in all the gaps.It is not for people with weak math skills. The book seems confusing at first, but if you keep reading and studying you will be rewarded with a deeper understanding of geodesics than you can imagine. This book is a "must have" for anyone who wants to build their own dome, or just learn more about geodesics. And yes, it's worth learning the math skills to understand this book.

Lots of detail
The math is thorough. I only went 4 stars because the author jumps from one formula to another and had trouble following his logic. It could be made clearer for the math challenged people like me. I thought this would be able to clear some of the fog for me, but I didn't get enough clarity. I did enjoy making the models that were suggested.

Excellent source!
It is one thing to follow instructions for a model. With this book and some math skills, you can create basically any geodesic structure you can think up! I was no math whiz in school, but this book was clear enough in it's presentation that I was able to teach myself spherical trig. I didn't say it was easy-- notice the word "easy" is not in the book's title-- but it is clear and well presented. I recommend a programmable calculator, as the equation you finally reach is a monster. But here, at last, the mystery of where those chord factors originate is revealed. Essential reading for any geodesic buff.

Asking many challenges to readers.
Anyone who is serious about geodesic dome, this book is must have. It covers most technical aspects of geodesic dome with solid math. Home builder or individual who just want to build a geodesic dome structure, it's over kill. There are few websites that provide simple dome calculator and step-by-step building guide. This book has not a clean example of geodesic dome from start to finish. Understanding 3D geometry needs to build real 3D models. The lack of practical examples that explain core ideas of geodesic dome is major weakness of this book. The publisher only reprinted few decades old book. Business as usual. I consider Buckminster Fuller's geodesic dome technology as one of ingenious engineering: exploitation of symmetry in Nature, entire structure absorbs impact or force, modular, scalable structure that easy to fix and extend. When Fuller patented geodesic dome, military quickly adapted it for real applications. Later on NASA investigated and improved it modern mathematics, vector manipulation and computer analysis.Useful geodesic dome software I've foundGeodome - [...] - open source geodesic dome design software for GNU/LinuxDomeMaker 3D.It uses icosahedron to design real domes. Commercial software for Windows. It isn't interactive interface as Geodome but can generate many types of domes.

Great math book
Seems to have all the needed formulas

I respect the quality of this booklet but would appreciate a" heads up" on the degree of mathematically difficulty
Technically excellent book. Far too much higher math for the average consumer. No question an excellent resource for those who have that sort of higher mathematical education. For the rest of us it is useless.
