Good quality but limited usage due to its design.
Very limited usage. After leveling, you can only move your camera up and down but not left and right.

I actually own/use the larger UBH 45, but the characteristics of them are the same. The head works as *either* a fairly traditional ballhead *or* as a leveling pan-tilt head. It is a functional/reasonable replacement to a gimbal head... probably better than any of the "side mount" solutions that put the weight off center. But it is *not* a gimbal. The only real negative I can find compared to other options is that the pan and tilt tensions are both set with one control; sometimes it can be difficult to find an optimal setting for both.It is a great choice as a do-it-all. But if you really want ballhead functionality, get a traditional ballhead and add a leveling base. Or get an inverted ballhead design with the panning on top (i.e. Arca Swiss P0/Z1 DP). And if what you really want is a gimbal head, then get a full gimbal (i.e. Wimberly II, or Benro GH2) and add a leveling base to that if you want leveling.I have a video review of this head up on youtube. http://youtu.be/Y9pCP7jr91w

The best ballhead I ever came across - and more
I bought this head in Germany where they add another hefty 200$ to the price. That is probably the reason, why it does not sell so very well. (In the meanteime the price has been lowered). There is a difference though: in Germany it is equipped with a much better Novoflex clamp, which can be t turned 90 degrees very easily to accomodate different camera plates. I tried it in several shootings before buying and found it stable under all angels and partly heavy loads. The combination of a highly precise ballhead and the ability to pan and tilt in one unit is convincing. I would not have it any other way. The combination of all these functions is much lighter than the weight of separate units which is quite a factor when you carry your equipment around. Before this I have tried quite a few heads, ie ballheads, 3 way heads, gimble heads, geared heads. This one gives me the best stability for my camera (combined with an extremely stable tripod). In all exposures I do not have to bother with mirror up, live view and self timer problems: Once the clamp is fixed the camera stays fixed and does not react to mirror movements and other micro disturbances. The camera is a full frame which is highly sensitive to the smallest movements of the body. The only drawback I can see is the big open surface of the upside down mounted main ball which potentially can attract dust and sand with no chance of completely cleaning it and removing any kind of dirt. The head comes with neoprene pouch which is open on both ends. Using it mounted during shooting probably can tame the dust problem although I always would be very careful about that.
