Interesting but expensive
I picked this out b/c I was trying to find a 'safe' way to listen to audio (music, lectures or books) while riding bike AND b/c I'm concerned about hearing loss from deep in-ear phones. For sport: The problem with most earphones is that they do not fit snugly into the ear so that wind sounds make listening impossible OR they fit so well that one cannot hear rear-coming vehicles/dangers. AudioBone earphones do work but only if one inserts foam earplugs to keep the wind out of the ears. Interestingly/Crucially, I could hear approaching car sounds better than when wearing in-ear phones EVEN THOUGH I had foam earplugs in. I am most interested to hear how these work underwater but to do this a waterproof casing will be needed to protect the iPod/MP3 player. As for sound quality: I could best hear music rich in bass and rhythm while the high register was muted by the wind when riding bike.

O.K.,but could be better.
I got these so i could listen to music while walking my dog,but yet still hear my surroundings ,such as other dogs, kids, etc. That part works well although the volume must be turned far up. what I had trouble with was getting them to fit properly with my long and ultra-thick hair, & when turning & bending, the "ear pieces" move to an incorrect position so i can't hear properly. I'm not really too impressed.

Best way to listen to music while swimming laps!
I bought a waterproof iPod shuffle recently. I was about ready to send it back because I could not find any waterproof headphones that worked for me. No matter what I tried (and I tried a lot of things) I could never keep the water out of my ears and thus obliterating the sound. Although bone conduction sounded kind of gimmicky, I decided to give the Audio Bone a shot. I am really happy that I tried these! They are not perfect, but they are the only solution that has worked well enough for me to keep the shuffle. The Good:1. They stay in place. Flip turns and hard push offs do not move them out of position.2. Light and comfortable3. Good (not great) sound4. Have lasted a few months without any issues4. Consistent sound. Since a seal in the ear canal is not needed, the stereo nature of the sound is uninterrupted. No need to stop every lap and mess with (like the in ear units I tried). The Bad:1. Expensive compared to in-ear models2. Have to crank up the volume on the iPod to maximum in order to hear well. This causes the battery to need more frequent charging.3. Not very good for spoken word recordings. I just can't crank up the volume enough to hear podcasts well enough while swimming.4. Sound quality is pretty good, but don't think your music is going to sound as good as it does with regular headphones on dry land!Overall - I have recommended these to a number of lap swimmers at my pool.

Not waterproof, not good sound quality
I bought these headphones because I thought they were waterproof. The description states that they are IPX7 compliant (which means they are submersible) and that "You can even listen to music while swimming." However, when you open the package and look at the instructions, it states in no uncertain terms that only the part that goes on your head is waterproof, the plug is not! So these are utterly useless for me to be able to use with my waterproof MP3 player. Good thing returns are easy with amazon, but the description is fraudulent. For those of you who don't care about the waterproofness, or just want to dunk your head in the water without getting the plug wet, the sound quality is still junk. If they are positioned just right and you plug your ears it's decent, so the only use I can imagine these for is if your job requires you to wear earplugs. If these were $10 they might have some novelty factor, but otherwise stay away! If you want something that lets you hear what's going on around you, just get some cheap earbuds (they sound a lot better!), and if you want to block outside noise (i.e. like you're wearing earplugs) then get some inner ear headphones.

Really really can't hear it
For years I've been looking for a way I can ride my bicycle and listen to music without endangering myself by covering my ears. I read the mediocre reviews of this product (also check the other colors) and convinced myself "well they must have to listen to music REALLY LOUD, which is why they're disappointed." I also purchased a headphone amplifier to help boost the signal. The first time I biked to work I could hear extremely quiet music from these phones for most of the trip, and I was happy. On subsequent trips, though, I was only able to hear a couple of seconds here and there, less than a minute total over my whole forty-minute trip. The difference, I believe, is that it was ever so slightly windier, and the wind whistling in my ears was enough to totally drown out the sound, even with my mp3 player turned all the way up and a headphone amplifier.I stopped wearing it. It's useless. It would be great with a LOT more amplification, but nothing I know of on the market today will make it work (after all, the needed amplification would certainly blow out regular headphones and/or your ears).

Was decent... for a few weeks.
I work in a warehouse, and we are allowed to listen to music, but only with one earbud. I figured I could use these to hear both channels. It worked well for its application. I had to turn up the volume all the way just to hear it though. Overall, I enjoyed using it, being able to hear out of both ears, and talking to people with music in the background, etc.Until the cable in the back broke after I had it three weeks. I bought this thing on "sale" for $130, but you'd think it could at least last a month! My $20 buds fromSkullcandy lasted three years!

Good Earphones for listening to speaking voices; not as good for music
I purchased these so that I could hear my surroundings while driving. You can hear your surroundings really well. Everything coming from the headphones sounds 'muffled'. This is fine for me since I only listen to podcasts and short stories (where people are only speaking) while I drive. I don't like using them to listen to music though. The quality is not very good. Also, I have to put the volume all the way up to the highest level to hear the podcasts etc. It is not a problem for me, but wanted others to know.
