The Berenstain Bears and the Forgiving Tree (Berenstain Bears/Living Lights: A Faith Story)

Hmmmmmm.......
The Berenstain Bears and the Forgiving Tree presents a noticeable dilemma. Well, the flaw was noticed by myself, because I'm not five. I don't know if any child would pick up on it or not, but I suppose a significantly bright child could and would question something when it comes to this book. Well, the Forgiving Tree, never really gets named that. The story of when the two cubs fought in the Berenstain Bears and the Trouble with Fighting was mentioned. It was talked about when they had a fight once, got so mad and divided the tree house down the middle with a red line, and didn't speak to each other until a thunderstorm forced the two indoors. I can understand how it could have been called the Forgiving Tree because the cubs realized how silly they were being when they couldn't even remember what started the fight they had been having. The tree brought them together as they sat there are stewed, saddened, and angered, as well as feeling any other emotions they felt as they sat back-to-back to each other, no saying a word. Little cubs can think a lot too, maybe they even think about when they are wrong and need to be forgiven or forgive someone. Once in the house, they realized they didn't remember what the fight was even about and that they forgave each other. So, the Forgiving Tree makes sense as a name because of that story. Yet, the story of Brother Bear and Cousin Freddy fighting in the Forgiving Tree book, has or had nothing to do with the tree. Oh well, maybe I just don't get it. =) The not being able to make sense of all of the book is the reason I only rated it a three. Most Berenstain Bear Books I purchase from sellers on Amazon get five gold stars 95% of the time. Five stars for quality, cheap prices, timely deliveries, and the most vast selection of books literally at my fingertips. I would have rated this book higher than a three if just considering my satisfaction with Amazon in relation to this book. I have yet to order a book off Amazon that I'm not happy with or regretted ordering. I have over three hundred titles of books (children and adult) so it's safe to say that I KNOW Amazon Books! =)

Shes a Bearenstein Jesus Bunny
My Grandbunny is four and this is a perfect book for her. When I read it alone the first time, I thought it might be too long for her very short attention span and that she might not quite grasp it all. I had bought an Arch Book and thought she would have had an easier time with it. The reverse was true. The arch book was harder. In this book, the "moral of the story" is placed at the end of the book and I do find that right near the end, I lose her interest some. But overall she really likes the Bears and the pictures. I've just decided to kind of find a way to shorten it some so she actually reaches the lesson and the whole point of it. What I really like about this book is that it gives questions and a really awesome idea for an activity. I absolutely intend to build a great big paper tree out of construction paper and put it in the hallway with all the family pictures and let her put the leaf with the people she wants/needs to forgive.

Good but not what i was hoping for
I have been working with my 3.5yo on expressing his feelings in a healthy or positive way - feelings are natural and they should not be held back. It's what you do with your feelings that is important. I bought this to introduce a new feeling to him - how to forgive. The "problem" or cause at the beginning is great! Any kid could relate! What I was disappointed with, however, is how quickly brother bear forgave his cousin. The actual act of forgiving was not properly explained (whether by text showing brother bear's thoughts or what he says to sister bear) and it seemed like a majority of the book was the problem and how it made brother bear feel. Then in a page or two of minimal text, brother bear forgives his cousin and we are back to playing. As a parent, I was disappointed. My son understands concepts and ideas better with books. I was hoping for more out of this.

The Forgiving Tree
I think what's great about this book is in this book someone did something by accident and later on the other person forgave the other person who did the accident.I like this story because a little boy had a birthday party and then an accident happened and later on in this story the little boy went someplace alone and got calm and later on the two boys forgave each other.I think you should read this book because I think it is a nice book and two people forgave each other. YOU CAN LEARN FROM THIS BOOK.I am 7 years old and I am almost 8 years old and I made this review now I think you should read this book and later you can also do a review.4/9/2015 Bye Bye

Great book
Since my son started reading books from Barenstain, he is getting into a habit to get more alike books. Each book always has something to think about it and discuss. That is gredt

helps to frame the mond for building good character
We want the best for our children so why not throw out the TV and read to your child often! These books are a good start - real life topics and great discussion points to relate to a little mind. They challenge us all to live by the golden rule and help to strengthen a good conscience.I only wish all the nations and peoples of the world took to heart and put into practice the intent of the authors of these books. Our constitutional republic works as a democracy only when the hearts and minds of the peoples are united in moral oneness. When we toss biblical priciple out and think the void can be filled with anything and everything else we will certainly lose our moral compass and drift to certain doom. I pray all americans would read these books to thier little ones, maybe they can get us back on course.

Too Religious
I was disappointed that the new books religious. I loved the books as a kid, but when I bought a bunch for my son, I was very disappointed that they push Christianity now, as we are not Christian.
