I work at night and use this lamp to see what I am doing. It has 3 brightnesses and good battery life. I think it is more comfortable than the coast ones we were issued but not as bright. My only complaint is that the cheap battery door hinges (seen at the bottom of the stock photo) broke while I was wearing it. I guess in order to be waterproof, the cover is so snug that the hinges just popped. I really liked it while it lasted.Update: 10/12/2015. I didn't request a replacement because most companies warranty service is awful and a hassle. I would have to mail the broken item back along with paying for shipping of the replacement which to me wouldn't be worth the cost and trouble. This was not the case with this company.SF Tech Japan technical support read my review and has notified me that they are mailing me another headlamp. I upgraded the review from 3 to 4 stars because of this. A company that stands behind their product and mails out a replacement without me even asking for it has my vote.Update 5/31/2016: I have been using the replacement headlamp since October (about 7 months) nightly. I have had no issues with this one at all. I am thinking the first one was a dud. 2nd one is great.

I bought this item as it stated that it was waterproof and I was looking for a light to wear to dive & submerge myself into shallow (3 foot deep), 33 degree water as part of a fundraiser for Special Olympics Rhode Island. I was doing 24 plunges in 24 hours with 4 other guys and we were going in through the overnight & were never in/under the water for more than 10 to 15 seconds. Just long enough to run, dive and submerge ourselves as the air temp was in the 20's but the windchill in single digits due to a 25 MPH headwind. The light survived the ordeal but got to the point where I could no longer use the switches to turn it off or on - it just stayed on and would occasionally change light format on its own. And now I can see moisture under the lens cover & it doesn't work at all. Quite obviously the device is not well sealed. I have reached out to the company for replacement/reimbursement but they have not responded at all - in spite of the 5-year warranty. I am not impressed!!

I bought one of these for my daughter to use when walking her dog at night. She said she loves it, so I got one for myself. I actually use it for a lot of things - including reading in a dark area, looking for items in my not-very-well-lit basement (where I have failing cabinet), and any chore that requires me to work in low-light conditions. There is a low be a and a high beam and the angle of the beam is adjustable. The buttons to turn the lights on and off and make adjustments are very easy to find when you are wearing the headlamp.

It appears a little cheaply made but so far it works great. I tested it next to my old princeton tec which was rated at 45 lumens. This one is significantly brighter as it should be, although the beam seems a little narrow. I also submerged it in a jar of water for 20 minutes while on and it did just fine. For the price it appears great.Update: Well after a bit more use in water (never below a foot deep) it appears water has gotten into the battery compartment. I didn't notice because it still functioned fine but upon opening the light the batteries were wet. I would give it 3 or 4 stars if it didn't claim to have an IPX7 water proof rating.2nd Update: I had to send this back. The red light would not shut off which is likely a result of the water infiltration. I realized this the same light that is being sold by four or five other manufacturers (VITCHELO and luxolite to name a couple). They both show a rating of IPX6 which is much more realistic than the IPX7 which this vendor claims.

Only 4 Stars because I have not used it for what I bought it for yet but as it stands; it is VERY bright, and the head band is comfortable. IT would be nice to have and additional piece where the lamp attaches to the band, but it doesn't appear to be an issue.I will update review after completing Ragnar 2015 Trail run.

Very small and light weight. Suppose application is to wear on head, but I preferr to wear around neck. Adjustable tilt allows to aim beam as far out or as close as you want. Will light up a house 300 yards away. Live on a golf course. Amazing brightness. This issue will not disappoint anyone. Now walk dogs at night, and have no problems with light. Side bar application. What a great light for grilling at night. Focal white light that seems like daylight. Have not used other functions.

I'm a runner who runs at night or early morning sometimes. After being afraid of twisting an ankle I ordered this. It's super bright and definitely calms my fears of tripping. It's light weight so right before it gets dark I can easily carry it with me. I suggest this to all my friends. When I had a few questions customer service answered and helped right away. 5 stars all the way :)
