Good, but a bit dense.
This is a very detailed biography, and readers will certainly learn much about Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan. Well-researched and documented, it is not the lack of content that is problem here. Probably it is rather too much that is crammed into a 370 page (about 175,000 word) text, which could possibly have been clearer in 500 pages. Stanley Wolpert crams a great deal into an already big text, so it is still dense reading for its size. This is a more advanced work, probably better for those who already have some familiarity with Jinnah or are doing graduate work. A good, but tough read, I recommend it only to Jinnah scholars and not the casual reader or undergraduate student. Five star quality, but 4 stars because it is very dense reading that could have been easier if only it had been longer.

Excellent
I had heard that this is one of the most well researched book on the personality and contribution of Jinnah. I finished the book in two days. It was easy to read and written in a very interesting manner. Although, it goes in historic details, however, the way it reveals the frustrations and conflicts between different leaders on sub-continent and their complex relationships keep you interested and engaged.

Comprehensive work
Stanley Wolpert's work is the most authentic and comprehensive biography of Jinnah, a man who thru his sheer determination, almost single handedly changed the map of the world and created the largest ( at that time) muslim nation in the world. Stanley Wolpert has written other biographies too ( Jawaherlal Nehru, Zulfie Bhutto )but this is his best work. There are other books on Jinnah but none as comprehensive as this one.Of particular interest is the rare glimpse of the personal life of this most private person, especially his marriage to the vivacious "flower of Bombay" Ruttie which ended, sadly, in a divorce and her tragic death on her 29th birthday.

A great insight in to the life of one of the greatest leaders subcontinent produced over the centuries.
Great book. Amazing how one man can lead against all odds and get the impossible done. The greatest thing about the book is that it does not feel like reading a biography rather it's reading the story of the one of the greatest leaders subcontinent ever produced.

An excellent book outlining the details that led to the partition of the sub-continent.
The book shows that the author engaged in meticulous research to obtain info about the subject. Prof. Wolpert delves into great detail about the founder of Pakistan and the reason why he finally decided to have the partition of the sub-continent.

Jinnah is one of the world's leading leaders.
This is a well written book about an enormously important statesman. He is the father of Pakistan. This man deserves far more recognition.

Stanley Wolpert has once again proved that he is peerless as an erudite author who analyzes the cataclysmic events leading to one of the greatest genocides in the history of the world with clinical precision.

It's extremely detailed and heavy going in some parts, but it certainly explains why partition occurred.
