One of my all-time favorite reads
Corrie Ten Boom's In My Father's House is one of my all-time favorite books. If you've read The Hiding Place, you may have wondered about the Ten Boom family and how Corrie was able to endure all that she witnessed and experienced in the Holocaust. How did this family have the strength to oppose the Nazis by helping Jews to escape and providing places for them to hide?I think this book answers that question. It delves into the home life of the Ten Boom family, and the reader is given a closer view into their household. One of the people that struck me the most was Corrie's father, Casper. Having read multiple books by Corrie, In My Father's House remains one of my favorites and Casper ten Boom is one of my favorite people that has ever lived. I find him quite extraordinary and his Christian example to be very close to what God truly intends in how we live and treat others. He was an extraordinary and excellent person, and the way he raised his children prepared them for what they were going to endure and what most of them did not survive. Even though not all of them lived through it, they still triumphed.I absolutely love this book. I can't stress that enough. Every time I come across a copy in a used bookstore, I buy it and pass it on to share the wisdom of a heroic woman and the family that shone so brightly during WWII. This one comes highly recommended!

Fascinating background info on this amazing woman and her family
Having read Corrie ten Boom’s spellbinding story of life during the Holocaust, and her family’s role in the resistance, I greatly enjoyed this book. Fascinating info about her life growing up and what gave her the desire and the strength to risk her life for total strangers, and survive a terrible concentration camp, which took the life of her dear sister. She was 50 years old, her sister about 53, and their father in his 80s, when they started hiding Jews in their home, eventually developing a network of 80 underground workers! It did not just happen for no reason, by chance. God worked in their lives for 50 years, training them in their faith, leading them into many activities helping others, everything from raising foster children, to teaching disabled children, starting the Girl Guide program in Holland (comparable to the Girl Scouts) and many other activities. They were used to helping others, being of service. Then in their 50s, got called into an unbelievable mission! Highly recommend this book!!

What A Beautiful Book
After reading The Hiding Place - wondering why I'd waited so many years to read it - I couldn't wait to read In My Father's House. Of course, I wasn't disappointed. Truly a beautiful story of a beautiful person and family.

One writer that keeps you captivated from beginning to end
This book was excellent and it came quickly and in perfect condition! I finished the book last night although I can't say it's in perfect condition anymore; oops; I just couldn't put the book down. Corrie ten Boom is an excellent writer; she keeps you captivated. I would read at night and fall asleep with the book in my hands (that's why it's not in perfect condition anymore).I found things personal in the book that made me laugh because I always thought I was one of a kind and then I found so many things similar to Corrie, even our birthdays, not years. I just wish I had more of her upbringing to be so strong in prayer and the Word and to bring EVERYTHING, no matter how big or small, to the Lord in prayer. What an amazing woman she was and to have had such an impact on so many lives; to have lived such a long life and to have seen the seeds she planted to come into fruition was truly amazing and a special gift from Jehovah, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.I can't say it enough...I LOVED IT!

A Brave Dutch Family
Although it is some time since I read The Hiding Place, Corrie's World wide best seller; also available on DVD; I have grown to love this Author and indeed, the whole Ten Boom Family! I have researched the 2WW very extensively, as part of my History studies, mainly because the History I was taught as a school child, was woefully lacking. The Ten Boom Family owned a watchmaker's shop! Yes, in those days, items were made to be repaired, when necessary!! Corrie inherited her Father's love of Watches and clocks, and became the first Liscensed Woman Watchmaker in Holland. The Family were highly regarded in their local community. No -one in need, was ever turned away. Somehow, there was always enough food, to feed unplanned for guests. Often, for the Joy of repairing rare clocks or watches;Corrie's father forgot to send the bill. When Corrie took over the shop work, this had to be improved, as money was needed for the special work this Family later came to do.Finally, I really recommend reading the whole of Corrie's books. She survived the darkest hour in a Concentration camp. This, I find a great comfort in MY darkest hours.

Not the Hiding place but still inspirational. And a great addition to the story.
Corrie Ten Boom was a sad loss to the Earth but I'm sure a welcome addition to heaven. The Story of this humble lady of old Haarlem in Holland is a timeless exposition upon how a simple ordinary person can be used of the Lord to effect great change in his name in order to bring Glory to his name. I would recommend that any Christian read this book as it is filled with wise words upon devotion, perseverance and suffering. If you are a non Christian I would recommend reading 'The Hiding Place' first and then coming to this once you are familiar with her voice. I hope that this book is never out of print and am truly glad that it has been modernised, in format only, in such a way that it is now available on Kindle.

Read the description carefully before buying
This book, the english version, is a rare item. Unfortunately it is a scan or a copy and the pictures came out very poorly. If you don’t care about that it is an excellent buy as original hardback copies are difficult to find and rather expensive.

My uncle recommended this book to me and I have to admit ...
My uncle recommended this book to me and I have to admit I was captivated by this woman's struggle against some of the worst conditions you can imagine. Would recommend it to anyone interested in history and the holocaust.
