I was very excited to get this cookbook after reading reviews and trying out a few Egyptian recipes online. I found it lacking in the appealing or interesting recipes I had hoped to find. It is beautifully illustrated but lacking in substance. Even the recipe for Koshari (an Egyptian staple) seemed lacking. Also, many of the recipes call for "mixed spice" without an explanation as to what that is and it is not listed in the index.
