BUY THIS BOOK IMMEDIATELY IF YOU VALUE DELICIOUS FOODS FROM SCRATCH
This is one of my favorite cookbooks of all time. Buy it now. Start a mass protest movement until they reprint it!I learned how to make potato gnocchi from scratch with the beautifully drawn illustrations. Super easy, super cheap. Incidentally, I had to repurchase this cookbook because I lost my original in a move somewhere (which I had originally stolen from the book sale at the local public library when I was 14, I know I'm going to hell). Couldn't for the life of me remember the name of the cookbook until I was like 'classic italian cookbook, maybe?' googled it and it was the first hit! Hot dang! Bought it immediately, but wished I had spent the extra 4 dollars on the hardcover.My only problem with this is the actual book itself. Its the size of a sleazy dime store romance novel you pick up at Ralphs. Do yourself a favor and splurge for the hardcover version, it's totally worth every nickel.

One of the best Italian cookbooks on the market
I bought a paper-back copy of this book back in the 1980s, and I used it so much that if finally fell apart. No one was better at providing instructions and recipes for Italian cooking than Ms. Hazan. It's one of those cookbooks that are as pleasurable and entertaining to read as they are to cook from. The vendor was terrific as well - the book was in better condition than anticipated and arrived promptly.

In Great Condition...Italian Cooking Must-Have Classic!!
This is our second copy of this beloved book. I cannot recommend this book enough if you want to learn about authentic, regional Italian cuisine. Have been cooking Marcella Hazan's recipes for 25+ years and her books are wonderful and this one is no exception. The book was in excellent condition.

WHAT AN INCREDIBLE BARGAIN
I found the book to be in incredibly good condition despite your warning that it may have suffered significant water damage. Apart from obvious aging and a very slight indication of possible water damage, it appears to be unread.Thank youRichard

Healthy Eating the Italian Way
I purchased this cook book for my daughter-in-law for Christmas. She wants to try her hand at Italian cooking. I got my first copy over 30 years ago and I still use it. Northern Italian cooking is healthy and easy. I know she will love it as much as I do.

Excellent cookbook from yesteryear!
Mrs. Hazan made Italian accessible to many non-Italian people all over the globe with this book. The recipes are fantastic, but some lack the insights a beginner could use. For example, her recipe for pasta dough gives exact measurements when in reality you need to increase or decrease the egg and flour depending on how wet or dry your dough is. This is not mentioned. Another reviewer states some conveluded method of soaking her apple fritters with laying them flat and being confused about the bowl size? Well, Mrs. Hazan meant for you to macerate the fruit. Mix the 1/4 sugar with the 2 tablespoons of sugar then toss in a bowl to coat all of the fruit. Cover and let rest to allow the sugar and alcohol to sweat (pull the water out of) the apples.Small details like this would elevate this cookbook to a textbook, but the information available is still a LOT better than you'd find in today's cookbook. The recipes that are shared belong in an era where food was supposed to taste good and dietary restrictions weren't a factor. They're rich and full of flavors!As this book is nearly 50 years old, some will undoubtedly smell musty. Rest it covered in kitty litter (door absorbing) or get baking soda in between as many pages as possible and rest it in a sealed bag for a few days in your fridge.

Best Italian Cookbook ever
My current copy of the book, purchased in 1977 is falling apart. I am buying a replacement for it. Without doubt her recipes are easy to follow and produce delicious results. I like the way she suggests a complete menu for each recipe. I also own her second book but this is the one, the now coverless, page-loose one I prefer. Buy it, your family will thank you.

Classic Italian Cookbook.
Marcella Hazan is best known for her world class book, " The Classic Italian Cookbook ". This followup was unfortunately overlooked, which is a shame. This book's recipes are every bit as good. For example, her first book has two osso buco recipes, which are wonderful. But,check out her ( 3rd ) version in this book. It will blow you away.
