FITS SHOE SIZES 8-12. Feet Cold? When only the warmest will do the -50 Below Ice Sock is your choice! One of the warmest socks we make it contains an astonishing 85% wool. Designed for people who spend a lot of time outside and need to keep their feet dry and warm in the most extreme conditions. Due to the extreme thickness of these socks they will not fit in running shoes and tight boots. It is recommended that a liner sock is used to help wick away moisture because it will keep your feet smelling fresher, warmer and blister free! If you are unsure about what sock to buy we recommend the -30 below as they are much softer/comfortable because they are made from Merino Wool. However, that said the -40 and -50 below socks will keep you warmer but were really designed as a rugged sock to be worn outside in boots. We are so confident that you will like our socks all of them come with our No Risk Guarantee, best of all they are made here in North America!

Let down.
Definitely a mild winter sock. Today is November 10th and we just set a record in Illinois. Today was 17 degrees for the low. I just sat in my tree stand for 3 hours. About an hour into my hunt with these socks, my feet were very cold. I had moisture wicking socks underneath and had my 1200 gram Itasca boots on. These socks kind of let me down . I even did 20 minute Intervals of standing to increase my circulation and I still experienced numb toes.

Very thick, nice quality, but loose. Not a hiking sock.
I wear a size 10-1/2 men's shoe. My feet are average width. I ordered the Large. This is only an initial impression review based on fit and feel, as I have yet to use them in extreme cold temps. These socks are very thick. Thickest wool socks I have seen. I am confident they will be very warm. However, if you are needing a sock to fit inside your hiking boots, you might want to look elsewhere, unless your boots are too big. My winter hiking boots, which fit perfectly with a single pair of merino wool socks, are WAY TOO TIGHT with these on. I tried this for testing purposes only and I am not deducting any points for this because I assumed they would be very thick socks, and therefore did not buy them for this purpose. These are better suited for the less active winter activities in which one might be wearing a large pack boot, such as sledding, ice fishing, snowmobiling, etc. But for the hiker, stick with thinner merino wool socks. These socks are very loose, even on my average width feet. They are the correct length but they are much looser than any other sock I currently own. Based on my experience with loose fitting wool socks, this is likely to be a problem inside a pack boot - falling or getting bunched up. I don't recommend these unless you plan on wearing a thinner pair of socks under these, or unless you have very wide or thick feet. This is the main reason for me docking a star. Although I didn't buy these for use in a boot, I still find them to be looser than I prefer while lounging around inside a home, or tent, etc. They will serve their purpose well for me however - a warm sock for winter camping (sleeping inside a sleeping bag when temps are below freezing).

I work all day in a freezer
I have worked in a Freezer for the past 20 years. I have tried everything to keep my feet warm. I have a solid plan each day. I wear a size 11 shoe. So I buy size 13 PAC boots from Cabelas. and put hand warmers in the toe of the boot, then I put a tall liner sock on, then these awesome thick socks. If I am feeling Ill or extra cold I keep the adhesive toe warmers on hand as an add on. Wool socks are the best for warmth, these are the best I have found. I have 6 pair now, and swear by them. They are so thick that they would not fit in any footwear that you did not purposely up size to accommodate the socks like I do with my freezer boots.. I spend 9 hours per day in there, and while others get cold, my feet stat toasty all day..

Best socks I've ever owned
I froze my feet when I was a kid in Minnesota and have permanent nerve damage in my toes. I'm 67 and have pain in my feet, tight socks hurt. I wear sandals and slippers, shoes hurt tremendously and my Frye boots are impossible to wear. These are the softest, thickest, warmest most comfortable socks I've ever had. I feel like I could walk outside into a snow drift with socks only. They are plenty roomy, I wear about a size 10. I can't say enough. I've had them on my feet for less than two hours and just ordered another pair.

Great Product/Highly Advise
Great product and work as advertised. They don't keep your feet warmer just sitting around the house. But, when I got my 4 wheeler stuck in a muddy/half frozen slough in Alaska, they kept my feet warm and toasty, I was wading through an icy/muddy slough with water up to my thigh, in December, and my feet stayed warm.

Not wide calf
I bought these socks because they were advertised as wide calf. I would say that by reasonable size standards they are not. I bought the correct size, but could not get the sock over my calf. My calfs are 17.5 inches at the largest part. The socks don’t do not stretch. . That said the socks looked well made and very warm -I wish they fit, I would have been happy too keep them.

still have all my toes.
these are very warm, but have 0 stretch to them. also fit large, and are not a comfortable feeling fabric on bare skin. with that being said, camping in a tent in 20 degree weather, my feet felt like they were going to freeze off, no matter how many socks i wore, until i found these. these make it bearable. now i dont have to worry about frostbite... as much

Great socks but check the sizes before you order.
Thewse are greeat socks but take care in getting the right size. Mine are a bit too large so the heel part rides up.
