If you are very careful and keep the pueces loosely coupled on a desk you can generally get more use of the uncloseable pen, but you cannot risk putting it in a pocket or purse or briefcase. So, all in all not the best choice. Review: Pens write well, but the caps crack and won't stay on, drying out the pen - As far as writing, these pens do a nice job. They write smooth, no globs or blotches. But that thin cap they come with, ugh. Unless you are super careful each and every time you place the cap on the pen, either over the nib end or on the opposite end while writing, you will crack the cap and after that, the cap will not stay on. Once that happens, the ink will dry out rather quickly. I have tried wrapping the cap with tape, not an easy job with the pocket clip in the way, and gotten a little more use out of the pens, but it makes them look cheap. Move on to another brand, there are some good ones out there.

How do you mess up something as simple as a pen cap?
The pen itself writes fine, but the cap wont stay on. They must have used caps designed for other pens and didn't take into account the fact that the fountain pen nib is bigger than the tip on a normal pen. The caps just pop off, kind of a major defect if you want to be able to carry pens with you.
