Galaxy of Origami Stars: 37 Original Stellar Designs Review: Great book - Spent a few weeks folding half of the stars in the book, and I have to hand it to the author, some of the algorithms are great (like folding a heptagon from a square). The models start out easy, but become enjoyably difficult by the end. As with all origami, precision is king. I found that even being a millimeter off threw the model somewhat. It's presentable, but it does show upon inspection. Review: Lots of stars - There are many interesting designs, but this is not a book for beginners. Someone already skilled at origami will love the variety

Great book
Spent a few weeks folding half of the stars in the book, and I have to hand it to the author, some of the algorithms are great (like folding a heptagon from a square). The models start out easy, but become enjoyably difficult by the end. As with all origami, precision is king. I found that even being a millimeter off threw the model somewhat. It's presentable, but it does show upon inspection.

Lots of stars
There are many interesting designs, but this is not a book for beginners. Someone already skilled at origami will love the variety

Not for a new folder
Lots of nice models in this book but it is not for the unsophisticated folder. Some models are pretty complicated.

More complicated than I thought it would be
I gave this only 3 stars; if I was more accomplished I would rate it higher. As it is, I'm finding the directions hard to follow since I'm just low-intermediate by some origami standards. I was eager to get started when the book arrived, but was quickly disappointed that most of it is beyond my capabilities. More complete directions would certainly help. I have a couple origami books that include instructional DVDs, and with their help I can do every project in the book. Anyway, these stars are beautiful and don't look like they should be that complicated. I'll try it a bit longer, but may re-gift this book if I don't succeed.

Inspired invention!
I couldn't wait for this book to come out. seeing it is like witnessing the birth of an origami galaxy. This collection of creative origami models is both challenging and compelling; once you investigate how John Montroll and Russell Cashdollar have devised their solutions for these one-sheet, no cuts, two-colored stars, you will want to enjoy folding the rest. Poor directions
I'm not an origami novice; nor am I an expert. The instructions were difficult to follow. Almost like there were steps missing just to make the task more challenging.

It's not too hard if you have folding expeeience....
Several people lowered their rating based upon the difficulty of the models. This was not advertised as a beginner book and it is not suitable for a school class of inexperienced folders. But it is a great origami book. The diagrams are definitely comprehensible to regular origami enthusiasts. Fun to fold stars from one sheet of paper!

Schade.

The content is fine but the printing quality is super lame. Especially the cover.
