This is a great outline and has some nice examples in this book. Written by a SAT prep tutor, so he obviously had a lot of experience in this field. There are thirty different examples in this book and I actually enjoyed reading them. My daughter will be doing taking this soon , and I believe this will be a great guide for her to follow. It is the best guide I have found yet so far. Very detailed information.Great to come back to over and over and see the format of how to write your essay and what kind of details are needed. The structure you need to follow and the work involved in each one. There is a lot of time and research that needs to be done with for your essay, and I really like all the examples in this book, I actually learned a lot when reading these examples. Thanks for the great tool, and I really recommended any that will be doing the SAT soon to read this guide, and use it as a tool in your studies.

This is a useful book for SAT practice. My daughter was able to increase her SAT score significantly by understanding how the SATs are reviewed and graded. It's not a short cut but it does help practice the test and allow you to focus on what's important. It is beyond my understanding why the school system in our area doesn't use such a tool rather than leaving it to the kids to have to navigate this area on their own. This is not cheating, it simply explains what the examiners are looking for.Highly recommended.

Don't just rely on these examples... After you learn 5 out of 30 examples from this book, as recommended by author...you should still practice for making up examples if you need to...for example I had a SAT essay in which no example from this would fit..It was a hard essay but this book has examples suitable for 75% SAT essay's...

This book aims to fill in a void in SAT prep books and does it extremely well. While every other book from the major publishers will tell you 'how' to write a SAT Essay (which I, quite candidly, find the most horrifying portion of the entire test), this one tells you exactly 'what' to write on the essay. No matter how good your writing skills are and no matter how well you've nailed down the SAT Essay-writing format, you can't really get near scoring a 12 unless you've got the 'filler' material. And reading up and researching are the only ways to get enough information so you can come up with the filler material.In this book, Christian Heath tries and succeeds in doing exactly that - doing all the research for you and providing you with two neat sheets of information about some examples that fit quite a broad range of topics. A teensy bit of suggestion to the author would be to expand on the vocabulary words for each topic. It's an amazing idea but could do with more than just one word. Apart from that, I found the guide quite helpful in the final stages of my SAT prep but would advise you to get it quite sooner than I did so that you can pick and choose your favourite examples, read them up and perhaps even do some extra research on them.

This guide was a life saver! I've never really been much of a writer and was pretty nervous about taking the SAT, mainly because of the writing section. This book helped me prep and ease my mind about the test. While other guides tell you HOW to write, this guide tells you WHAT to write. This is exactly what I needed as I am not the most creative thinking person in the world especially under pressure.This guide has 30 different examples that can be used for the SAT essay. Now, don't get me wrong. This book isn't going to automatically get you a perfect 800 on the essay as it is just a guide containing examples that you can use. But if you are great at memorizing, which I am, this is an excellent guide for you.This book contains unique information that I have not found anywhere else, and should not be overlooked when purchasing SAT prep material. I have already recommended it to quite a few of my friends.

I am a SAT student who will be sitting the SAT exam this November. This book is excellent in terms of content- it synthesises the wealth of information on the web to exactly what you need for the essay, very concisely and succinctly. Very impressed. It also has headings for each respective chapter for relevant SAT essay topics, so you can use and practise them when writing essays. 5/5
