The only book you need to find a "solution" to the problem of Back Pain.
I had almost given up. I was reading everything, trying so many approaches, so many doctors and different remedies to solve the "back problem". This is the book that put everything in perspective. The book that allows me to believe that I have a voice that should be heard. Dr. Stern has provided Steps to take and wonderful checklists to use. This book helped me organize my thinking, prepare for appointments and approach the problem in a methodical way that doctors will appreciate. When in pain (when you can't sit in a chair) it's hard to figure out what to do next. I love how this book will help prepare for a back emergency and keep you healthy so you won't have another one.

A worthwhile read
Dr. Stern's book is a well-written, well-organized summary of the current state of knowledge about back pain. Starting from a description of 6 pain generators Dr. Stern brings a readability to understanding why lower back pain, although common, is so complex to understand. This book is not presenting a magic bullet but rather a process for each individual to understand their own back, to advocate within the medical system and to understand the range of treatments and lifestyle issues which may either cure or alleviate lower back pain. A worthwhile read.

As an active weekend warrior, the health of my back is a key to my happiness. Whether I'm on the paddleboard, chopping wood or driving to the lane on my 10 year old (I know), I rely on the self awareness and self healing techniques shared by Dr. Stern to keep my back fit. Simple, practical and effective, a must read for anyone with a back.

Very highly recommended.
Written by a doctor whose warmth and compassion for his patients shines through many pages, this book delivers just what it promises: a comprehensive survey of all varieties of back pain, a guide to sorting out what particular symptoms mean, and a trusty companion for anyone who wants to not give up until they find relief. So often back pain narrows one's horizons to a single concern. This book takes a wide view of the whole field, and indirectly helps particular sufferers realize the wider community they are a part of (and realize which problems they don't have!), which itself is a kind of relief. Thank you, Jack Stern, for writing this. Very highly recommended.

EASY READ; WELL WRITTEN
I cannot recommend "Ending Back Pain" enough! It is an absolute must read for anyone suffering from back pain. Dr. Stern's list of practical daily activities and behaviors that can be helpful in preventing or managing low back pain is extremely beneficial.

Finally there's a book that actually answers the most important questions regarding chronic back pain! After buying a few different books in an effort to learn how to get some relief from my chronic (and sometimes debilitating) back pain, Dr. Stern's book has been invaluable and for the first time I understand the origins of the pain and how to get lasting relief. Thank you for writing this book in such a user friendly way and giving me positive outlook for a pain free future!

Must read for anyone with back pain
Jack has a unique understanding of the subject matter which he conveys to the reader in non medical terms. This is a must read for every frustrated patient trying to deal with her/his back pain.
