The Gospel According to Matthew (Ignatius Catholic Study Bible)

This book came in good condition. It is easy to read with study questions in the back for each chapter and readings/explanations for each section. I bought it for a bible study with my Church, but didn't quite make it to the meetings. I was able to follow along and understand on my own.

This is a great way to get even deeper into the Bible.I have been a fan of Scott Hahn's work for some time. When I saw that he had written a Catholic Study guide for various books of the Bible, I decided to take a plunge.My first study Bible was given to me over 10 years ago. As a Catholic, I had not been urged to read the Bible. Much better to have it read to me by the priest and then have him explain it. A friend gave me the aforementioned study Bible, complete with the words of Jesus in red. I was hooked.I have just started into this book and am so please that I followed my instinct to purchase it. Very in depth study of The Gospel According to Matthew AND the culture of the time. It was especially interesting in that the reading for the day had to do with the perceived End Times.While I am not a Bible Thumper, I am someone who wishes to grow in her spiritual life. This and the other's in the series can only help.I bought a second one to work along side a friend.

One of the best bible studies for Catholics starting to read the Bible. Highly recommended!The first part of the book contains the best introduction to Bible study for Catholics that I've ever seen, using the Catechism and other papal documents to teach how to read the Bible. The remainder of the book consists of the text of one book of the RSV-CE Bible, accompanied by good Catholic footnotes. Study questions are broken out by chapter, so you can do one chapter per meeting or 2 or 3. About half the study questions are objective, drawn directly from the bible text, the footnotes or other sections of scripture that apply. The other half are devotional-application questions. This is a winner and will help people to understand Scripture better in a safe reliable Catholic way.

I am a Roman Catholic Deacon who is using this book as the core text for my annual Bible study class. The commentary content is superb - very intelligible and easy to digest. Highly recommend this guide as an important resource.

Book I needed for Bible class. Perfect.

In my bible class everyone is looking at this study guide and some are buying it because of the wealth of added references not found in most of the NAB and other Bibles. It is large and has room for writing notes and I love it. It has brought my study to a higher level. I also have bought others in the Ignatius Catholic Study series. A great way to study the different books of the Bible. You will love it. I do and so do others in my class including the Teacher who has a doctorate in theology.

This is a fantastic addition to the Catholic library. The print is slightly larger than the standard bible and so is the commentary print. The commentary is complete and there is lots of extra information. Great for an addition for a bible study group or on it's own.

I am very pleased with this Guide and Gospel of Matthew. I am still reading and feeling it. I am taking the class at church. The book not only gives you the Gospel, but gives you explanations, origins, geography, references to go further and so much more. This book will not let you down if you want the Gospel of Matthew.
