The All New Purity Cook Book (Classic Canadian Cookbook Series)

We received our first Purity Cookbook 55 years ago as a wedding gift, we're now on our 4th copy because we've totally worn out the other three. I am extremely happy that they are still printing this same version since it contains recipes that are not easily found in other places like the Chiffon Cake. This cake is similar to an angel food cake but easier to make and much tastier because it comes in a variety of flavors including banana, chocolate, cherry, and more. The recipes are easy to follow and are so tasty that you will quickly find favorites such a Martha's Casserole, Hamburger Stroganoff, Butterscotch Brownies, French Meat Roll, and more. I found the recipes virtually NO FAIL including the one for pie crust! This book has become my favorite too for wedding gifts! I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

As is often the case, I was introduced to dishes from this book by way of my mother. It was one of her two go-to references for all sorts of things. Eventually I inherited her spiral-bound, time worn copy and although still legible, needed to be handled with special care.This new edition came as a revelation. Every page has been reproduced faithfully in paperback form with one minor difference. In my copy of the book, certain pages were in colour; in this reprint, all images have been reproduced in black and white. The book is not devoid of colour however as the blue text highlights remain.As to the recipes themselves, they are clearly written and the methods easy to follow. For most, I use the recipes verbatim but in a few cases I will use them as a starting point and substitute certain ingredients (e.g. butter for shortening in the Quick Breads recipe.) All in all though, it is hard to go wrong if you follow the steps as written.These are hearty, time tested recipes that have stood the test of time and although I'm not usually one for baking from recipe books, the Purity Cookbook is one that I find myself coming back to time and again.

Hello,When I first started seriously baking back in 1968, I was given the Purity Cook Book. It was easy to follow and the recipes had ingredients that I enjoyed. Over the years, my cookbook was tattered, torn and spattered with ingredients. I had ALL the pages BUT they were not in order.Over these past few years, I started searching for a newer version of the cookbook. Just last month I FOUND 'The All New Purity Cook Book' on Amazon.com. I was so happy and excited to be able to have a CLEAN version of my FAVORITE cookbook. I have other cook books but NOT like this one.I would recommend the Purity Cook Book to everyone. It is a special cook book and I know you will be very happy with all its recipes.Signed:Happy Baker

Excellent book. 4 stars because the quality of the pages are typical copy paper. Unlike the gloss pages from the oldrr version.

Simple, easy to read and I usually have most ingredients in the house. I had this cookbook when it was first published in 1967 and I was so excited to see it in print again, purchased two, one for myself and one for one of my daughters. I was a stay at home mom with 4 children and loved baking, etc. The instructions are not overwhelming, and the recipes can be trusted. And one of our favourite recipes are the Thimble cookies.

From since I can remember as a young girl from Guyana, my mom always talked about these recipes. When I found the book on amazon.com, I was trilled!!! I bought a copy for myself but when I showed it to my mom she was so excited that I gave it to her and got bought another copy for myself. Can't wait to try some of these dishes. The book came in before the scheduled delivery date and in excellent condition.

I had one in 1967 been using it a lot and told my daughter that I would like another one because using it that long it was starting to look pretty bad so we went online and looked found one and purchased it I am very satisfied it is the same as the original so I don't have to look for my favorite recipes thank you

This is my first Canadian cookbook. I have yet to try out any of the recipes, however being an experienced cook, I can see that the recipes are written in clear and simple instructions. The book was new and I would say the rate of shippping is within normal waiting expectancy. I think this would make a good cookbook for even a beginner. All the ingredients are readily available in your local grocery store.

This was not what I thought it would be. Not like the one I had used of my friends 1940’s issue as some recipes not the same

It's a book I recommend to both beginners and expert bakers. Plenty of recipes, easy to follow and the seven I have tried so far, turned out perfect. The pictures have also a retro vibe to them which adds to the beauty of the book, in my humble opinion.

Was really happy to get a copy of this book, as we had one in the family for ages and it went missing. Such great canadian recipes, completely easy to follow. A must for any kitchen!
