Safety first.
These items work great, you don't want to work with electricity without the right tools.

Great testers
The non contact is very sensitive but so was the brand or two I tried before this one. Had some gcfi issues and this tester just saved me hours. Great buy, happy I bought this!

Very sensitive
The media could not be loaded. UPDATE 12/21: I have used several non-contact voltage (NCV) testers since buying this one (which I also still use). I think it be fair, I am updating my review to say that this tester is NOT unreliable. The problem is that it’s VERY sensitive. I have another NCV tester that is meant for testing/repairing Christmas lights. That one is not nearly as sensitive as this one because the Xmas light wires are exposed. This Sperry tester is sensitive enough to detect magnetic fields inside of a wall. Initially, I thought this tester triggered on a wooden door. That door happened to be next to my garage door wall switch. While the 2 are several inches apart, the Sperry tester was able to detect the live AC wires in the wall. That’s actually a good thing, and it’s what this is supposed to do.ORIGINAL REVIEW: The NCV tester It triggered on a door handle installed on a wooden door. No electrical contacts or wiring in the wooden door. Needless to say, when I get this up to a wall or near a power outlet, I can’t trust it. I can’t trust that it actually found a powered wire inside the wall or that whatever outlet that I bring it near actually has voltage. Quite disappointing. I have safely used it to verify a de-energized state on devices before I work on them, but I can’t say it’s always reliable. A false positive is better than a false negative, though. Of course, if it indicates negative (de-energized), I always retest with my multimeter. After all, electricity is unforgiving and gives zero room for error.
