N.T. Wright is always interesting and this book follows that reputation. There are many different ways to understand the Bible teachings and how they apply to today's life and times. Wright also brings in considerations for what was going on historically at the time it was being written and relatable concepts to the contemporary world.

This Bible study goes beyond the standard reading comprehension questions. The questions are thought provoking, and force you to dig deeper past the surface. Whether doing this study on your own or in a group setting, you can work your way through the Gospel of Mark one chapter at a time with a deeply insightful introspective into the teachings of Jesus. If you're reading Mark for the first time, or have read it dozens of times, this study can help you come away with new insights.

I really wish there was a way to give a rating of 3 1/2, I think overall the study provided decent structure, however often times the questions were rather leading and not necessarily in life application way. So many times I found myself trying to psychoanalyze the author.

I am using this book for a small bible study I'm doing with friends. I have to say I really like it because the chapters are not too long where you feel like you can't get through it week to week me the questions really make you think. They aren't just easy questions you can find the answers in the chapter you just read but they make you delve a little deeper. Creates great discussion!

If you want in depth study of the Bible you will love anything by NT Wright. Most impressive.

My small group Bible study meets every other week, and we used this study guide to work through the Gospel of Mark over the past months. I've read several reviews for guides in this series and have noticed that reviewers, for the most part, have failed to recognize that this little book is not a commentary, but simply asks questions for its readers. In other words, it is a companion "guide" for the "For Everyone" commentary series that NT Wright has written. When used together, I found the guide+commentary to be very engaging. If you are leading the Bible study, the commentary is a necessity, and you will see that the questions in the guide are directly related to the commentary. While I would have split up some of the lessons differently, for the most part this study served its purpose well--our small group was able to get into the text of Scripture and have great conversations about what it meant and means in our lives today. For what it's worth, we'll be doing another study this upcoming year, and will be choosing something from this same series.
