A beautiful book for people interested in Tibetan Buddhism. Matthieu Ricard has translated many texts and parts of texts that have moved his heart. A good book to use for daily contemplations or to give for a friend who would like to learn from the texts of meditation masters of old.

At the present this is the best anthology of Heart advices and general teachings of the great tibetan and some indian masters.It is especially suitable for all those who are initiating the serious study and practice of Mahayana Buddhism, with a free , open and non-sectarian spirit.An important thing to know is these are not the kind of teachings that allows directly reveal the Buddha's Vision as you would have it in Dzogchen, Mahamudra or Prajnaparamita.

If you are looking for something essential an out of time, but really useful. This is the best option.I appreciate the really wide spectrum of explanations about some Buddhism topics. That allow to readers to understand, the meaning of some sacred text an words that are inspired a few great spiritual masters, and encourage me to follow the path. Some times would like to have the possibility of place the words in ours context, but for that I think is better other works from the same author.

Matthieu Ricard is not only one of the finest translators of Tibetan Dharma texts in the world today, he is one of the few westerners whose direct experience and practice qualify him to assemble a collection like this.Just open a page and start reading! What a great way to start your day with your mind pointed in the right direction.Thank you M. Ricard

I would have preferred it arrived sooner than it did especially for the shipping charge but the book was in excellent condition and it was packaged very nice.

I agree completely with the reviewer above who says this is a book he’d want to have with him on a desert island, and have used the same analogy myself. Very well compiled, it summarises all of the key Buddhist teachings, frequently from early sources so you get a feel of taking these from closer to their origin, and with strong lineage and authenticity. I get the sense that if you had the time to sit, study and really get your mind behind what is written here, you really would make progress on the Path to Enlightenment. On a more practical level, as most of the passages quoted are short, it is an easy read if your time to read is limited and you normally only manage a couple of pages in bed before falling asleep....!

Awesome, Great high grade stuff, if i were going to be stranded on an island, this might be one of the books i would take :) Top tips, advice, gems, prayers etc. for the entire path - from the big names in Tibetan Buddhism through history :) Highly recommended if drawn to this type of thing ;)
