Smart Low-Flow Heater Replacement for Sundance Spa Hot Tub 5.5kW 6500-310/6500-301

I bought this to fix my 2008 Sundance optima 880 hot tub. There is a YouTube video for this model hottub that shows how to replace the heater. This is the second replacement. This one is nice because of the lights on the side. Less than an hour and it was filling back up. Seems to hold the temp well while in use in the cold, better than the last one. Very happy with it.

Happy with how easy this was to install. Replaced my OEM heater in around 15 minutes and it was heating the tub. I have two minor complaints.First is that the over heat sensor isn't attached, it needs to be attached with silicone into the top or bottom depending on your configuration.Second is probably hot tub specific, but when my tub was heating in ice / cold mode, the heating light indicator was not on the heater as the hot tub was not directly calling for heat. Once it got out of this mode, the heating indicator was on as was the light on the heater. I wasn't sure if it was working at the beginning.

I liked that it has an indicator light to show that heater is on. It came with a high limit sensor and a length of tubing if you needed it. I was getting an sn 1 error on my Sundance spa which is supposed to be a problem with the high limit sensor that is inserted into the heater. I replaced the sensor but still got the error and the spa would not heat. My heater was about ten years old so needed replacement even if it wasn’t the cause of the problem. So I got this heater and installed it along with the included sensor and it fixed the problem. Not saying that it would fix all sn 1 error code problems but it fixed mine.

This heater installed pretty easily in my Sundance Cameo spa and with the indicator lights is better than the OEM heater.

Our heater decided it wanted to quit on December 21. Our local provider didn’t have any in stock and since they were closing for the remainder of the year they were not sure when they could have it back in stock. Their solution was to disconnect the heater and let the pump run. My solution was to order on Amazon and have it delivered the following Sunday. Easy to install. Thank you very much.
