From five stars to two...An updated review
I tried the snow cleats they sell at Costco. They worked fine until I walked in snow and promptly lost one. I wondered why they didn’t have some sort of top strap to keep them on. I looked here on Amazon and found a lot of designs with Velcro straps. But, as anyone who’s lived in the north long enough knows, velcro is useless once it gets packed with snow. There were some ice cleats with sturdy retention designs, but I wasn’t planning on scaling mount Kilimanjaro, I simply wanted to walk the trails near my home and not fall flat on the icy patches. The cord and sliding clip design on this ice traction shoe is genius. The steel nubs provide The perfect amount of traction for my purposes. Yet I can also walk through deep snow and not worry that they’ll fall off. This is a well-designed and constructed product. I’ll repost if they don’t stand up to repeated use.*** review update: total failure. The cleat portion of these traction shoes tends to fall out even with modest use. It’s really a shame, I really wanted to like this product. It’s a design flaw that cost this cleat three stars. I would no longer recommend this product.

Save scoped knees and broken hips!
I bought two sets of these, one each for my wife and I. I fell last year on our sloped driveway taking the trash to the curb...black ice patch. Several thousand dollars and a couple of months of misery. Where I live, these are useful from December through April. We've had a light winter this year, so I've only used them 3 or 4 times vs some years when I would need them every day, but they worked very well, gripping the concrete with authority, letting me step out confidently behind the snowblower or snow shovel without baby-stepping as I would on some slippery occasions in the past.We keep them permanently attached to boots we wear only for snow removal, and they have remained securely attached. If you forget you have them on and step onto tile or hardwood...shame on you; there will be damage. The cleats are like miniature tire studs, though probably just steel and not tungsten (I would pay extra for the tungsten.) I can't fault these in any way.

Dangerous cleats. See pictures.
10 minutes into my walk I slipped and fell. Not even on ice but packed snow which was slippery. These cleats did not stay in place allowing for dangerous tripping.I almost bought a pair for my elderly neighbor. Thank goodness I tried these out first. These are awful. In addition the snow packed around the cleats rendering them really useless.I would like my money back.

Trust the size chart
After reading many reviews I knew that fit was a major concern. I purchased size Large for a size 9 leather boot . The fit was perfect. The advise I can give is these cleats are designed for ankle high boots or shoes, but will work on regular shoes. As luck would have it I needed these the day after they arrived. I never knew walking on ice and snow could be so secure. These are a must have where these conditions are present.Note: This was placed as a review under XL, This review is for L Cleats.

Easy on, easy off STABLE cleats for icy surfaces!
LOVE these! I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I got them on Saturday and used them yesterday. If I’d had these a few years ago, I could have avoided tearing the ACL in my right knee when I slipped on ice while shoveling. This winter we’ve seen multiple heavy snowfalls, followed by a cycle of thaw, refreeze, and repeat! There was a solid 3 inches of ice in my driveway as of yesterday, and with yet another winter storm coming today, I knew I’d better do something about it. These cleats are EASY to put on and take off, and I had complete control while I chopped the ice away! I can’t recommend these highly enough if you are looking for easy to put on, adjust, then remove, cleats for your winter footwear.

Holy Gripping Power, Batman! These Cleats are Awesome!!
If you have occasional ice where you live, get yourself a pair of these cleats; seriously. They slip on over any shoe with ease (it takes as long to slip both pairs of them over your shoes as it does to brush your teeth), they have spikes on the bottom that grip onto the snow or ice with each step you take, which allows you to: a) not fall on your bum while walking down the snowy/icy street b) be able to venture, confidently, outside in bad weather, allowing you to go about your day as if there was no snow stormIn conclusion, these are a great, great product, and I recommend them for everyone who lives in a climate that includes cold weather precipitation.

Just GREAT!
They’re WONDERFUL! I was looking for some traction for my cowboy boots, since they have slick leather soles and are exactly the kind of thing a person could break their tailbone on. I looked at every possible option, and decided these looked least like they’d damage my boots, and also like they might fit around the boots. The other options looked like they might require athletic shoes. These work great. I only wish they came with a carrying case, because you have to take them off inside, so you’re holding some cleats everywhere you go.

Great cleats. XLarge actually fit my boots.
Great ice cleats. I ordered the XLarge and they actually fit my size 10.5 Arctic Muck Boots which are huge. They're a bit snug, but they fit with a little adjusting. I had a cheaper pair of cleats this season that only hooked to the toe and heal of my boots and had one fall off while coming off a lake in the dark that I didn't notice until I home. These cleats attach over the toe and heal in a similar fashion, but they have a cinch cord that goes around the ankle and attaches to the toe straps to prevent them from falling off. I don't see these falling off unless the cord or a rubber strap get cut. Keep in mind that these have a smaller cleat so they aren't as aggressive as some cleats, but they work great for ice fishing and and walking around on icy driveways while shoveling.
