This is a great gift for the person who wonders how a word got it's start. Every day is a new word. It covers a lot of time. From the old to the very new. My son was always asking why a word meant what it did and this explains at least 365 of them!

This is one of the wonderful ones, for those of us who like a little challenge in our days. I find myself feeling snug when I know a word. This next year's calendar (2015) looks just as good as ones I have had in the past.

Not as fun as word-a-day calendar for me. Although it can be wall hung, it can fall.

This is a great daily mind stretcher. I have used this calendar for ten years now. Rarely have the words or phrases repeated. I have enjoyed learning about the English language and where it has evolved from.

Definitely not what I was hoping for. Most of the terms are pretty obscure, uninteresting and not useful. Every now and then there is an interesting one.

I was looking more for a word of the day calendar, not the history of Red Lobster.

One sheet for each weekday, one sheet for each weekend. It's okay, but I'm glad I got it cheap in the sales as the word descriptions and etymology appear to be heavily biased towards the US market. When you tear them off, on the reverse of each each sheet, there's little interesting facts or puzzles to do.

Very useful wouldn't be without it.
