Joe: The Coffee Book Joe Coffee is one of the most popular coffee shops in New York. They are passionate about coffee and they do a great job. Whats even better is they want to share their knowledge with their customers.I've worked in coffee for nine years and I've spent a fair amount of time training Baristas and and home brewing enthusiasts. This book is perfect for the entry level Barista and home enthusiast. It's kind of incredible how awesome this book is.There are six chapters that range from roasting to the community of coffee. I love the fact that they highlight the coffee community. It's a major part of the equation that gets left out. They introduce the reader to Baristas, chefs, customers and even a coffee producer.The Bringing it home chapter is such a great guide for brewing coffee at home. Joe walks you through the most common home brewing methods in a thorough easily understood way. The photographs of grind size are so useful!I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in coffee.

Finished Joe the coffee book after, unsurprisingly , a caffeine fueled marathon read. What a delicious book! Wonderful photos and lucid, warm prose walked me thru so many interwoven worlds: joe from its beginning to today, in it's relentless pursuit of coffee and community, the world of coffee from bean to cup with all the stops along the way, how a cup is made, in store and at home, and loads of novel fun images and vignettes throughout. I learned so many nuances bout something that's long been part of my daily experience.It's an ode to new york too. Passionate, hard working, dedicated funny entrepreneurs running with and sharing a bright idea. Our city is filled with them but it's always a treat to pull back the curtain and peer inside.

An interesting read about the coffee business with some practical brewing advice thrown in. , I'd like to patronize "JOE" but unfortunately New York is a long way to go from SoCal for a cuppa no matter how great it may be.An interesting story about how life will sometimes throw a curve at you when all you want is a strsight ball.

Interested in knowing coffee basics and this book was quite explanatory without too much scientific jargon. Enjoyed the personal aspects along the read.
