Bang! Paperback – July 31, 2007

I found the first part of the book to be extraordinay. The death of the main character's little brother in a drive by and the way the family reacts to it seem to me to be spot on. Unfortunately, a number of our students have had relatives and friends shot and/or killed. However, the part of the book in which the main character and his friend are left in the forest to be taught what it is to be a man rings a little false. Wouldn't somebody notice these kids were missing? Wouldn't the authorities be called in? That said, my students virtually inhale Ms Flake's books, and this one is no different in that regard. Maybe, as an adult, I thought about things a teen would over look.

I am a reading teacher and am always looking for books that mirror my students. We are reading The Skin I'm In together as a class. Students asked for more book by Sharon Flake. They love her writing and sense of humor!

this was a very eye opening book. it made you think about how things can affect people.

I think this was one of the best books I've read so far. I usually read romance books, but my son had to read this book for a Summer project for school. Me and him were instantly drawn to this book after the first chapter!! And my son doesn't like very many books. I would recommend this book to all my friends and his!!

Really enjoyed this. Thought it got the sensitive side right. Characters weren't perfect - they were real. Highly recommend it. I bought the audio too and liked the narrator.

As a 30 year old adult woman, I still enjoyed reading the adventures of Mann. I highly recommend this to my 12 year old black nephew.WE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ONE ANOTHER

This book was one of the best books I've ever read. It was really sad hearing about all the ppl that got killed. And how the father left his own kid to live on his own but it was to teach him how to b a man
