NOPALE CACTUS PADS Opuntia ficus-indica TORTOISE FOOD 1 POUND

This was my first time ordering these for my 2 1/2 year old tortoise. They were bigger than I expected which was great, nice and thick for him to chomp on. There was not any bruising on them and they were in perfect condition. I will be ordering again for sure!

I ordered 3 of these guys last year in April(charged shipping for just one) and got them within a week. They sent me pads bigger than my head...one that was 18 inches tall, 10 inches wide, and a full inch thick. I let them sit for another 2 weeks though they were ready to plant when I got them...Rooted (used rooting hormone gel) in sandy soil...one by itself with small stones and the other two in a 10 gallon pot topped with sand, together with a peruvian torch and some Jade leaves that I couldn't throw away. They all had roots within a month and now 10 mos later, they all have grown another full sized pad..one has three pads on it. By October of last year, the one by itself had grown two big pads which I harvested one and gave it to a woman with 2 sulcata tortoises. She cut a section from the top and fed it to her babies..they liked it enough that she let the rest dry and planted the pad to grow. She was so thankful for finding something she can grow that her tortoises love that she gave me a 10-year old Orchid cactus as a thank you gift. I expect fruit this year as they are now getting purple flecks all over them and have gotten fatter over the winter. I highly recommend this prickly pear for growing or eating as well as supporting a sustaining crop which feeds everything from humans to birds and everything in between (ants love the flowers too but you have to let them play because they pollinate for you). Fair warning: If you've never tried to grow prickly pear...brown flecks are normal-expect a bug or two to have eaten a chunk of the pad at some point in it's life-can use same plant different flowers to pollinate-will grow HUGE and FAST...put it in a big, wide container so you don't have to transplant because they hate moving pots and need a good root structure to get massive. Last and most important, don't be deterred by your climate...they are perfectly happy indoors from October through April with good light and little water.

Product came in relatively good condition, I'd blame the weather but it seems like they were old and dry.

Your tortoise can't possibly eat all that you will get from this generous company; so simply plant the rest, it's so simple it's almost insulting. Then you simply harvest by cutting little bits off the tops, and you'll never need to BUY prickly pear cactus ever again. Good luck and have fun!

Super fast shipping and good size but for some reason the Pad has cuts on both ends instead of one side. Thats the reason to rate it 4. At least a new pad is growing after 14 days of planted.

These pads were very tough and they had bruises which led to the pads developing puss inside. It was gross.Not only was the quality poor, the shipping information was misleading. The add says 1lb product weight and 2lbs shipping weight. My product was .75 lbs and 1lb shipping weight. I wish I knew I was paying for a box instead of cacti pads.

I've never ordered cactus pads online before, but my daughter's young tortoise needed more variety in its diet and it's difficult to find cactus growing in WI, so I gave it a try. I ordered one opuntia cactus pad and received it much sooner than expected! The price was very reasonable, especially considering that the cactus pad I received was huge!!! I didn't realize how large it was going to be, and was pleasantly surprised. It was also very fresh. Seller seems very friendly, even hand writing a little greeting on the packing slip. I definitely recommend buying from this seller!
