Works well but be mindful of proper feeding
Like many others, I have bought the 1" bit to fight a freshly cut stump. I found the bit to be very sturdy and mostly invincible. I have used a Harbor Freight low-speed drill to drive it, while squatting on top of the drill and using the quads part of my leg to prop the horizontal handle whenever the bit got stuck and I needed an extra torque. A few times, I was able to use a socket on a breaker slide bar to drive the bit back to the surface when the drill could no longer move it back. The bit stayed mostly sharp through drilling 40 holes at full length all the way into a clay/mud under the stump. At that point it was not feeding nearly as well, but it was easy enough to re-sharpen using a basic small flat file.Towards the very end of the project, it just stopped feeding altogether. When I pulled it back, the top screw tip used for feeding the bit broke off. I assume this happened because the bit got dull again and I was drilling into the most dens and wet part of the stump, while not pressing on the bit hard enough. Basically, the screw kept going while the bit stayed still, effectively twisting the tip off. Without the tip, the bit is of no use - it would not feed at all. I've tried welding a new screw tip, but that one broke after two more holes. At that point I was around 85-90 holes.Overall, I think this is a quality tool. But seeing other people reporting the same issue with the broken tip, you might want to be mindful of the keeping the bit sharp and maintaining a good pressure to make sure you can maintain a proper feed rate. And maybe go a bit slower.

Very nice
Used this to aerate my lawn by drilling a bunch of holes in the grass. Other aerating methods either compact the grass even more or don’t go deep enough. Time will tell with the drought to see if it actually worked or not

Just kept on going and going
Bought this to bore into tree stumps, and it not only did a great job, but it did a great job for at least 40 holes.I really abused this bit, and I would say it is as sharp now as when I started. High value for the money.

worth the money
used to drill holes in tree stump tried other products but this like a hot knife through butter.People tend to think it's only a tree stump. Put a drill bit in and away you go NOT.There are a wide verity of trees and all made different by nature. Some very Hard some very soft some dry some suck up water like a sponge. and you have one drill large enough and now need the bit.If you want several to do the one job ok but if you. want to purchase one and save frustration here it is.

This Bit Succeeded Where Others Failed
When Hurricane Michael destroyed my dock and seawall, I decided to change the design and use 1/2 inch stainless steel threaded rods with stainless steel nuts and washers to secure the dock structure to the new pilings. The problem was that I needed to bore a 5/8 inch hole through two 2x10 crossmembers and 8 inch pilings. And, I had 60 of these I needed to drill through. I tried a spade (flat) bit that didn't even get started into the piling. So, I purchased this Dewalt Auger Bit and started using it on the piles that I hadn't installed yet. I was using my 1/2 inch corded drill and it bored a clean hole without a problem. However, I had already jetted most of the piles already and I couldn't use my corded drill on those. I tried using two different 1/2 inch battery powered drills and they couldn't handle the job. These drills would bind and stop before I could even through the 2/10. So, I purchased a Milwaukee M18 FUEL 1/2 inch portable drill. This drill and the Auger Bit handled the job easily. I also ran into nails and hardened screws in some of the old pilings and the bit was able to handle those. I purchased two of these auger bits thinking that one would wear out before I finished all the drilling; however, I have not opened the second bit yet and I have completed approximately 90 holes so far (for both the crossmembers and for the stringers). I would highly recommend this bit.

The Dewalt wins every time(the Milwaukee are a close second but are pretty hard for me to get a hold of these ...
I'm a contractor. I specialize in Wharf building and repair. I drill bolt holes in every type of lumber, 4x8, 12x12, 10x6, the list goes on and on. The wood I drill though most of the time is pressure treated Hemlock. I use all sorts of bits every thing from this 5/8 all the way to 1 inch and beyond. I have had milwaukee , bosh, task and a few others. The Dewalt wins every time(the Milwaukee are a close second but are pretty hard for me to get a hold of these days) You pair this bit with https://www.amazon.ca/DEWALT-DW130V-2-Inch-Drill-Handle/dp/B0007W1K9G/ref=sr_1_25?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1511724561&sr=1-25&keywords=dewalt+drill and you will be a happy camper.Great bit would and will be buying more.

Works great
Used this to dig holes into the ground for setting up garden sticks, and it did an amazing job. The ball groove shank is too big for my drill, so had to pay extra to get an adapter.

Excellent for Food Spikes!
Suggested by a friend to drill holes in which to place food spikes for trees. Does a FANTASTIC job, efficient and speedy. You will move along like greased lighting. My 20 volt DeWalt drill pairs magnificentlywith this bit. Highly recommended, especially if you have lots of (hungry) trees.
