1969 JD 3020 Diesel
Great fit on JD3020 Diesel, boss on starter registers nice and snug with bore in tractor. Used the s- terminal closest to engine block. Starters spins tractor over very fast and starting ease has improved 100% from the old original. Smaller frame size makes it easier to get to nut on back side of starter. Hopefully it lasts a long time reliability wise... great so far.

Gear reduction starter
Took way longer to remove old starter and about 15 min to install new and came with gasket. As far as durability time will tell works as it should

When i ordered this starter i was hoping that it would fit like they said. To my surprise it fit and worked perfectly on my John Deere tractor.

Fits better than original
Anyone that's tried to change a starter on a 4230 knows that tge engineers that put the bolt behind the starter should have been fired, but you can actually reach it with this starter. Nuff said.

Half as large, but more cranking power
Easy to install. Cranks my diesel tractor engine faster. Half as large, and half as heavy with more power.

Very impressed with the quality, speed in shipping and ease of installation!
I ordered this on May 4, UPS delivered it today, May 6, 30 minutes later I had it installed and it works perfectly! My tractor is a 1970 John Deere Diesel and it fit perfectly too. Because it's smaller in size, that devil of a nut on the engine side is not a problem any more! There was a note in the box that said the solenoid terminals might be reversed from the OEM starter and they were. I had to change the trigger wire to the other terminal and it cranked right up! Just remember, read the instructions before you start! I know guys, that's really hard for some of us to do, especially those of us who have spent most of our lives working on equipment and think we know it all!UPDATE! It lasted from May 6, 2020 until September 18, 2021. Conveniently just out of warranty. Note that I only use this tractor 2 or 3 times a month. So it stared my engine maybe 25 or 30 times. I ordered another and we will see how long it lasts. This one goes to the scrap yard.
