Helps keep your you in correct position to go , squatting is nature's way to have a bowel movement. I have used a small step stool but this is much better.1 problem (as strange as it sounds) with this model you need instructions, "yep" no joke . If you have neuropathy in feet and toes this may not be for you or me! It puts feet at an odd angle . Why can't you squat flat footed ?

Sturdy and firm but uncomfortable

AWESOME
I purchased the original squatty potty and bought this one, both work, but these squattys are the best thing ever, when you eliminate it helps to get it all out. My child has one as do I , this one is awesome, glad I bought this.

Trips us up
If I set the squatting tool to its highest setting then it won't snugly fit under the toilet. Rather it protrudes, and my kids keep tripping up on it. I had to remove the adjustable step so that we can get to the toilet in the first place.

Too narrow...doesn't fit...tripping hazard
The opening is too narrow and doesn't push back next to the toilet, therefore sticks out and is a tripping hazard and hard to sit on the toilet with it sticking out.I returned it pretty quickly.
