Size:10 Cubic Feet | Style:Airless Tires With its easily understood concept and friendly design, the Stoplight Clock helps little ones who cannot yet tell time figure out whether to stay in bed or get up for the day. A parent-set timer determines when the clockâs red light, which means kids should stay under the covers, makes a shift to green, meaning kids can get up. It is an especially helpful unit for children who are exceptionally early risers or those kids who naturally get confused by super-bright summer mornings or extra-dark winter ones. A digital clock and optional beeping alarm function are also included, and the clock measures approximately 7-1/2 by 4-1/2 by 8-1/4 inches. Four versions are available, featuring a bear figurine in two colors of jammies or a car figurine with either a boy or girl at the wheel.

it works!
I am a tired parent that has had many sleepless nights. I have a two and a half y/o child that often seems confused, or simply afraid of having to go to bed and to stay in it the whole night. Now, with this product we are making the night time fun. He was excited when the light came on last night and accompanied him to go to bed. I told him that the green light will come on only in the morning and that just then he could get out of his bed. He actually went to bed asking me many times: "did it switch to green already, daddy?" Moreover, he did wait in his bed the next morning for the light to come on. When it did he was so happy about it and showed me the green on. He said in fact that he had slept "sweet" the night before.Only reason I would not give it five stars is because that I think its quality is overpriced. You could get a digital-plastic-clock like this with no "state of the art" quality technology for a fraction of its price. But product is aimed to exhausted parents that are well-known to be a good niche market that marketers could assume they would pay any price for a good night of sleep; nevertheless I think that for that quality they could either lower the price or if to keep it, then turn up the notch a little and make it look fancier and more sturdy.

Just stopped working....
The product came and I noticed the nose was a little chipped on the bear, I wasn't too pleased with the appearance. I don't know why it even had a spot for batteries, every time it would come unplugged it would loose all the info. Other then that it seemed to work, my son was starting to get the hang of it, then one day it just stopped working completely. :( I don't know if we just got a dud or what, but I'm pretty disappointed.

Daddy, the green light's on!
I have a 3 year old son, and we wanted something to help him know when he's supposed to go back to sleep (or at least play quietly in his room) and when it's time to get up as he was getting in the habit of calling to be let out of his room whenever he woke up. For this purpose, the clock works magnificently. He knows what the red light means and what the green light means, and he knows that if he sees the red light still on, he's supposed to go back to sleep. Part of the key here is consistency. There are times when he wakes up, either in the morning or from his afternoon nap, that I can hear (we have a baby monitor) that he is clearly awake and will not be falling asleep again. However, I figure that if I let him out before the green light turns on, the green light will soon become meaningless. When the green light does come on, he yells out that the green light is on and that we need to let him out. Although he is quite capable of turning the lights on and off himself, he does not prematurely turn the lights off. We do use the yellow light too (it's only function is as a night light), but it's not terribly bright. Our son can't tell time yet, so the clock is only useful for mom and dad for setting the alarm. There's also a sound alarm, but we do not use that. If he sleeps later than when the green light comes on, that's fine. Also, when the green light comes on, it will stay on for 1 hour. After which, it will turn itself off. I think my son has overslept by this much maybe once, and I monitor the time, so it hasn't been an issue. I highly recommend this product.

Skeptical.... and proved wrong!
I will try anything once. And after 3 months of my 2 year old son waking somewhere between 5am and 6am (not to mention the middle of the night shout-outs because it was so dark he was confused) I had had enough. I had heard of these alarm clocks and while doing the due diligent research, I admitted I rolled my eyes more than once. I found this one, it had the best reviews, seemed the easiest for my little guy to understand, and so I went for it.AND IT WORKED!!!! The first night we set the clock to turn red at 630. I really wanted to set it for 7, but I did not want to be greedy the first time. At 620, he was standing in his bed calling to me that he couldn't come out yet because it was still red. The next night, I set it for 640 and didn't hear from him till 640. This morning, when the light turned green at 7am, I heard the door to his room open and him come out. This thing actually works. We schooled him and drilled him in what the colors meant the entire day before we used it the first night. He knew what red meant and what green meant and was delighted with the "new game." Me? I am just glad he is sleeping longer than the roosters.

Nice idea
The first one we got didn't work but the second seems to be working fine so far. It's not great quality workmanship by any means and we've only had it a few weeks so I don't know how durable it will be long term. The lights are very bright and easy to see even in daylight. The red light will be on the whole time until the programmed time for the green light to come on. The yellow light is an optional night light but it doesn't seem necessary since the red light is already on. The green light will stay on for an hour before shutting itself off. We haven't yet used the audio alarm so I don't know how well that works -- we usually don't have to wake our child up!There is only one alarm setting so if you want to have the lights for your child's nap, you can just reset the alarm -- really only takes a few seconds so I don't see that as a problem. It is a hit with our child and he enjoys pointing out that the green light is on.Edited in April 2012 ... the clock is still working great almost a couple years since we bought it.
