If your child is too young to introduce him/her to the phone, this is a right product to begin with. My 5 y.o. is absolutely happy to get the device "like dad's and mom's" and to talk to any of us even from the same room. We also tried these walkie-talkies while separated with quite a distance with each other outdoors and heard each other perfectly well too. It requires some short training for the child to master all the buttons on the device, but once s/he gets it, be prepared that this may become his/her main way of communication! One more thing you will need is to buy batteries for this device, since they are not included into the set.

Bought these for camping to use while backing up the camper/parking it vs yelling to the front of the cab.For the price, I cant complain. BUT, right out of the package the clasp on the back where the batteries go broke off. Alright, no big deal. I was aggravated but nothing a little tape cant fix. Worked fine for 1 use then went to get them out 2 days after 1st camping trip and one of them wont turn on. Brand new batteries. I haven't tried to trouble shoot yet, might just be battery positioning or bad battery. But, probably wouldn't buy again.

These things work great out of the box. The back battery covers were a little difficult for me to remove with my big hands but my wife was able to remove them easily. The range and sound clarity is very good. The different options give your kids more things to experiment with, the kids love playing with them and with high quality batteries they last a good while. I would highly recommend them!

I got these for my nephew for his 5th birthday. It took about 20 minutes of trial and error but he finally got the hang of the buttons and how to talk vs listen. His mom sent me a text the morning after the party and said these were still his favorite gift and he and his 2 year old brother (yes, even the 2 year old figured the buttons out) were having a blast playing spy. Great gift, great product ~ I'm sure these will provide hours and hours of fun for any kid.

They have great range and a lot of channel options. Higher quality than I am used to thinking with walkie talkie for kids. But they are still easy for my kids to use. They came quickly and work as advertised. Great product.

I use these walkie talkies at the weddings to communicate with my team. works great for such a budget Radio. Requires 4 aaa batteries each. I got rechargeables.

Just like the other reviews so do not buy, not even for kids, not even as a joke piece of junk
