It's steel.
I used this product to reinforce an older, budget toolbox that I'd picked up at auction because it was filled with good Starrett measuring tools. Not wanting to throw the tool box out, I subsequently replaced the failed and inadequate friction sliders with ball bearing drawer slides. This project required a little reinforcing of the drawers, hence the mild steel flat bar. I cut it into lengths to fit inside the drawer sides, then drilled and tapped directly into the steel bar (and backed up with a nut) to attach the new slides. Works a treat.

Not flimsy. Solid. As good as the originals that came with the cabinet.
I bought this because I have a wooden file cabinet with notches for a metal rail that supports hanging files. I know. Paper. So 20th century. Anyway I had lost the rails for one of the drawers. Measured the existing rails and looked online for compatible. Found this. Bought it. Hacksawed it to the proper lengths and voila. Perfect fit. Files are hanging. My OCD for organizing partially assuaged.

Nice piece of steel
This is 1/8" thick, so a little thicker than in specs, and can be cut like butter with the right tools, so very easy to work with, and did the job it was intended for very well. The steel came in a ridiculously huge box, which could have been filled with 50 of these pieces of steel. If Amazon had put it in a rigid cardboard tube, it would have been far better protected and used far less cardboard in the process. Either way it came intact, no bending or damage.

Do you like metal?
This review is for a 4-foot long piece of steel, 1/8" thick and 3/4" wide. This was purchased to use as a diagonal brace for a ceiling mounted storage unit to increase overall stability. The ends were rounded over with a grinder and holes were drilled to fasten to the unit. The flat stock is exactly as described. I would purchase this again.
