Triceratops was a herbivorous dinosaur that first appeared during the late Cretaceous period, about 68 million years ago. The term Triceratops literally means "Three Horned Face" which refers to the three prominent horns situated at the front of the animals face, which were ideal for fending off predators. These horns were accompanied by a large bony frill at the top of the head, making it one of the most recognisable of all dinosaurs. It would roam around on four legs and possessed similarities with the modern day rhinoceros, though had anywhere between 400 and 800 teeth!!
