The Barefoot Investor for Families: How to Teach Your Kids the Value of a Buck

Mad money skills & setting my kids up for life!
Great book I just love it, my kids 5 and 8 years old are loving it too. They have their savings goals, and are being really thoughtful and considered with their hard earned money! They have also started helping more around the house, and are very proud of their efforts. I feel this helps to create a work ethic and think before you buy. Both great for saving, and for the environment too.I wish I had this education about positive money handling and management as a kid. I am confident my kids will hand good money skills instilled in them, making it second nature to them as adults!

A very down to earth guide for the average non-financially adept investor
I had read the original Barefoot Investor and bought this for my son's young family. Though he resides in the USA, and the book is written specifically for Australians, he found lots of useful advice which can be applied in different financial jurisdictions.

A book all parents should read
Being on holiday, and having some time to kill, i quickly read through two books that been sitting on my Amazon “to read” book shelve. I chose two financial books from Scott Pape, as i have been a member of the Following The Barefoot Investor - NZ (No association to Scott Pape) FB group for a while, and i always wonder what his book is about and why are there so many people raving about him.Being a manager of a sizeable team, and also a small business owner, I would like to think that i am someone that’s pretty knowledgeable about how things work from finance/investment perspective (i have read 10-20+ financial books in my life). I read through both “The Barefoot Investor: The Only Money Guide You'll Ever Need” as well as well “The Barefoot Investor for Families” in the last 10 days, and i have to admit that i learnt a things or two, and both books gave me lots of ideas about what i am going to do differently from now on.One thing i realise from reading this book is that, having the knowledge or understanding about how money/finance works, doesn’t automatically make us parent a good teacher, to teach our children about how moneys works, and be a good role model. What i like about Barefoot for families, is that it gives us some fairly simple step by step plans that we can follow, to prepare our children for better financial literacy, before they leave home one day.Go grab a copy of Scott’s book, it will be one of the best investment for your family, guranteed. 🙂

Worth reading book, with inadequate size drawing
The book is worth reading, only downside is the drawing/picture is too small to recognise, otherwise no complaints.

Will Change Your Life
Scott's no-bullshit style of writing is refreshingly easy to understand and his plans are even easier to follow. After reading his first book a few weeks ago, I was made redundant and instead of feeling depressed and completely out of control, I felt like I could get through. Despite wishing I'd read it years and years ago, it has changed how I feel about our finances and that is HUGE. So when I could get hold of his second book, I jumped at the chance. My 11-year-old daughter is starting to notice the changes we're making and I was already beginning to work with her on the three jar system but this book again gave me hope. Hope that I can prevent her from being in the terrible financial state we're currently shovelling our way out of, hope that she doesn't rack up debt as soon as a bank offers her a credit-card at 18 and hope that she will be without all of the stress and anguish that I've only recently learnt doesn't have to be normal. She will have a proper financial education and whilst Scott's book is completely at credit for that huge feat, we are actually in the position to teach her these principals. I cannot thank him enough for this gift, it was the best money I've ever spent and I hope that he sees that at least his second review is a 5-star one. He deserves it and much more than my words can ever express. Thank you, Scott I hope you understand how much my whole family appreciates your work. From two 33-year-olds and one 11-year-old in Christchurch, New Zealand, I hope you feel the love. :)

Great book for parents
Such a good follow up from his other book about how to help your children not make the same mistakes. Really looking forward to putting in place in our family.

Text
Kindle version is not properly formatted, too hard to read (ie small text with loads of whitespace) on a smaller screen such as a smartphone. Things like this should be tested properly before the book is released on the Kindle platform.

The man is a genius
I loved this book. Can’t wait until my son is old enough to understand ‘saving money’. Some excellent ideas throughout this book for the whole family

Fab read, great way to help your kids be smart with money!!
I love the barefoot investor, he's helped me with my finances and now he's helping get our kids on the right track. Hopefully they won't have the credit card debt that I did and they will manage to save and donate starting from the beginning!!

Set up your kids for the future
After reading BFI, which made me make some immediate changes to my financials, I bought this book for guidance on how to plan my kids financial future. As with BFI, Scott explain it clearly on what and how to get started. Highly recommended for any parents who want to set up their kids for success!
