Heated prose for a cold story
Although the story itself is compelling, the author uses prose that is too excited and overuses exclamation points. The most interesting part of the story is toward the end; the first three quarters of the book set the stage but without getting to the real drama.

Fascinating book!
During our “in-shelter” days, thought this would be a great book to read. Written during the dark, freezing days of Richard Byrd and spelling out the lonely days. Would recommend it to people who enjoy adventure.

Very Good Book
I enjoyed this book very much. It was well written and easy to understand. One could feel the dangers the research team went through and especially Admiral Richard Byrd when he was alone.

Great True Story
Couldnt put the book down, what a clever and brave guy, to keep going back to learn more about the antarctic I take my hat off to him. Its worth a read.

Great Read
If you like adventure non-fiction you wont be able to put this one down. Very vivid, it made me feel cold while I was reading on a warm summer evening.
