Automotive Technician Certification Test Preparation Manual 4th Edition

This book was a vey helpful refresher for A1-A8 ASE tests. If you have a good understanding of automotive systems from work experience, and you are decent with interpreting wiring diagrams, you shouldn't have a problem getting your certifications with this book. There are good hints/refreshers with each group of questions tooI took each practice test and wrote my answers down, went through the answers in the back, and read the reasons for all the failed ones. A few of the questions are almost word for word ASE test questions especially in the auto trans section.The L1 prep section is very good information and I don't think I would have passed that test without it. But the actual L1 test had a few more questions about A/F ratio sensors that I feel this book didn't get into (maybe the info was more relevant at the time of publishing). Also there were two typos in the answer section for L1 where the wrong answer letter is printed.I do think this book is a very useful study guide and would definitely recommend it. No study guide is going to be perfect. I passed my A1-A8 easily with perfect scores on 2 of them. My L1 test score was 41/50 and it takes 34/50 to pass. I would recommend this book to anyone studying for these ASE tests. Good luck!

GREAT study guide. Had problems passing some of the tests and read everything on the courses I was taking and passed them with flying colors!

This book is basically a test prep (tech A says, tech B says). If you don't have prior knowledge of either ASE testing or have automotive tech education, this book does very little in educating. You must understand the material to understand the book fully. The only cons I could find is that it is pricey for a book full of test questions and it doesn't cover the entirety of each ASE test section. Helped me out with my recertification.

I purchased this book to help me study for my upcoming ASE. To keep it short I dont suggest this book to people who are just starting out in the industry. The book is full of wrong informations and very contradicting answers. Unless you have decent knowledge of the material already this book will leave you worst off for your ASE test. I’ve study A3, A4,A5, & A6 already and have passed the ASE for each. The reason for passing isn’t much so credited it to this book, because I ended up buying something else to study from. I’ve posted a picture of one of hundred of mistakes found in the book. They marked the answer as “A” as right but in the statement states “D” is the correct answer. “D” is the true correct answer but to an inexperience tech it might throw them off.
