Exactly as described
I found this foam was easy to cut and separated well from the backing. It stuck confidently although I was able to remove it and re apply it if I made a mistake in its placement. I suspect it will leave a residue in time but it doesn't leave one immediately which I thought was as much as you could ask for. Exactly as described and thicker than the competitors.Practically speaking it didn't dampen any sound, however I ended up having a lot less surface area to work with than I thought when I ordered the foam, so this may have been my fault.I'm starting to suspect this won't work well in a computer case since the fans sit on the sides of a case, where sound can immediately escape without interacting with the foam. That said it's a neat idea and it's as described so I'm giving it 5 stars.

Can't work miracles - but it did help quite a bit...
I used the SilverStone foam to quiet a noisy computer tower. It was pretty easy to use, cutting to size with an exacto knife and ruler. The foam is lighter weight and softer than I would have expected. The adhesive is quite strong so you will NOT be able to remove and reposition it once you stick it down. Fold back a little of the non-stick cover, stick that edge in position, and then gradually peel the rest of the non-stick from between the foam and your surface, sticking as you go. The foam is soft and quite easily stretched, so you must be gentle and slow or you will pull the foam out of shape resulting in wrinkles and/or a poor fit.I applied the foam to as much of the inside surfaces of the computer as I could without removing any parts or the motherboard. The computer is much quieter now, but by no means silent. A lot of the higher pitched fan and drive noise was eliminated. The sound now seems to be mostly "whooshing" air and is much less annoying though still quite audible. This computer had an intermittent vibration on the main removable side panel, which I could always stop just by holding a finger against the side of the machine. However, keeping one hand on the case did slow down my typing considerably! I tried different solutions using tape and inserting paper shims in the seams but nothing really stopped that vibration. With the SilverStone foam it is now completely gone - that's a big improvement! It's possible thatย DYNAMAT 10415 ย would have been even better - but it just seemed a little pricey to me at $19 for 200 square inches vs. 630 square inches of SilverStone for $14. It's my non-scientific impression that DynaMat is more about dampening vibrations in metal surfaces and less about absorbing ambient sound. The SilverStone actually cured my particular vibration issue and does a good job on absorbing noise, especially the more annoying higher frequency sounds. I'm happy with my purchase and the results.

Works well as a final touch on a computer build.
This product is a thin noise dampening material suitable for computer panel doors. It cuts very easily with scissors, and the process is fast if you have created cardboard templates ahead of time. The foam side feels very much like the bottom of a foam mouse pad, if you are wondering about the texture. The sticker adhesive is very sticky, and requires taking your time and not stretching the material. I went slowly and allowed the material to settle while applying pressure from one end to the other. If you firmly compress it to the case, you will have a hard time removing it without leaving behind some residue or bits of foam. Also, there is a chemical odor from the adhesive. I am hoping it dissipates as time goes on, but you can imagine your computer venting this smell out into a space.I would look at this foam as sort of the finisher on a computer build. Just like you would line a car interior to be luxurious, using the foam will hide some of those unsightly spots as well as slightly reduce noise..In my case I have alot of quiet 120mm fans but a few loud whiny parts on the motherboard. The 120mm fans are still as loud as ever, but I did notice a reduction in the whine of the motherboard and the clacks of the harddrive. The overall effect is only slight reduction, but there are also some perks in finish quality of a build and hiding some nasty looking rivets or bolts. I also actually got a bit better airflow as it seemed to seal up some spaces where air may have been escaping.Overall a decent product that worked well on a mid size case, with some extra foam left over. I did a side door, bottom, top, and rear.

Very large piece of form, good for the value
Form is a bit on the softer side

Easy, Low Cost Improvement For Stock Computer Case
If your computer currently sounds like a blender, please stop reading this review. You need more help than a 1/8" thick sheet of foam can offer. But if you're already building a reasonably quiet desktop or HTPC, this product will make it even better. It's a cinch to cut with ordinary scissors, and simple to install; peel, then gently roll onto a dust-free surface. Pat down lightly. It sticks extremely well. You won't be removing this product for re-application, so measure twice, cut once, dry fit before removing the backing paper, and trim if necessary...Has no offensive odor like some other denser, butyl rubber or asphalt based 'sound mats'. And it costs a fraction of what they sell that stuff for...I received two flat, carefully packaged sheets of cushy, gray, self adhesive EPOM foam with no aluminum foil facing. Applied it to the top, bottom, and side panels of a cheap, echoing, sardine-can-of-a-mini-tower desktop PC case, before installing any components. All of my fans are very quiet Noctuas, but this material made the thin sheet metal sound 'denser', and an already quiet machine became even more hushed. I've experienced no increase in case temperatures with this new insulation, but I have both intake and exhaust fans moving all air from front to back, as well as a passive side panel vent.Absolutely worth the fifteen bucks, as long as you're not expecting it to silence a jackhammer. (Building a quiet computer requires more thought, planning, and money than just slapping a band-aid on a hemorrhage and expecting a miracle cure.)As usual, the one and two star reviews here were written by whiney crank-yankers.

Great for sound dampening in mechanical keyboards
I used this to dampen the sound in the case as well as between the PCB and base of my RK84 keyboard. It took some time to cut the smaller strips to go between the switch sockets holes on the metal base but there was so much material that even if you screwed up it was easy to just make a new piece without worrying about running out.The adhesive works well, and if you need to pull off from the frame there isn't any adhesive residue left over when you do. The material is easy to cut with scissors but NOT with a pen/precision hobby knife. When I tried to cut it that way it started to serrate the foam rather than just cutting it through. There might be better luck with a razor blade which is much thinner and sharper but I didn't want to take the risk and the scissors were able to do the job fine for cutting into the strips. It's not as elegant as buying a pre-fabbed foam board and takes longer, but this is much cheaper does the job of sound dampening well and you have enough material left over to do at least 5-7 keyboards with excess material.

Great dampening foam for keyboards!
Excellent dampening foam for keyboards. It is thin enough to fit into most keyboards and the foam itself is soft enough that you can really squeeze it into cases. The adhesive is super strong and can leave residue. So, install the foam carefully into the case before it gets to hard to reposition it. To note, there is a lot of foam. I would say that you can probably cover over 7-8 TKL keyboards with how much material there is.Highly recommended for people who are looking to mod their keyboards!

(Relatively) Cheap way to dampen keyboards
This foam is good for dampening keyboard noise. It does not completely eliminate it (no foam does) but it makes it sound less hollow. Great way to improve cheaper keyboards or gaming keyboards as they typically won't already have foam. It's a pretty large pack and I did not use even a quarter of the pack to fully dampen two full size keyboards.

I didn't like how amazon handled my item.
This is my review on the product. The item was soft and a little thin. That's about it.My item was handled incorrectly and it was shown on photos. I have a bunch of orders and put it a one big box. They could easily not folded the item. Made my item look bad quality. I returned it and told amazon what they did.

Works as Described
Used in my NAS cases to reduce sound. Generous size pieces for sure as others have stated. Will have to find other uses.Easy to cut with sharp scissors.
