Great serial console for Raspberry Pi4 running Raspbian Buster
Fast delivery, great price. This is what you need to have a serial console to your Raspberry Pi4 running Raspbian (which saves you from attaching a monitor and keyboard when you can't access the RPI over SSH):1. connect the wires to the GPIO like on the attached picture, no power necessary!USB to TTL-GND -> PI GNDUSB to TTL-TX -> PI RXUSB to TTL-RX -> PI TX2. enable uart in /boot/config.txtenable_uart=13. redirect kernel messages to serial: raspi-config > 5. Interfacing Options > P6 Serial Enable/Disable shell and kernel messages on the serial connection4. reboot Raspberry5. attach USB to TTL Serial Converter to your Mac (or PC)6. download driver from silabs (usb-to-uart-bridge-vcp-drivers)7. attach to the serial console with screen (on Mac/Linux, use putty on Windows):$ screen /dev/cu.SLAB_USBtoUART 115200Done, you'll see *all* boot messages and will get a login prompt once the boot of Raspbian finishes.

Not suitable for use with a Pine Rock64 SBC
The converter is well made and works fine but the CP2102 chip it uses only goes up to 1Mbit/s. This makes it unsuitable for use with a Pine Rock64 SBC which runs at 1.5Mbit/s. I believe the chip needed for that speed is either a CP2102N (the N is important!) or a CP2104. If like me you need the faster speed you can find a 2104-based converter here on Amazon. I haven't tried it yet but it is spec'ed to operate up to 2Mbit/s.

Plug and play in Macbook Pro High Siera
I have been trying for 2 weeks to upload sketches to various Wemos boards, I thought I was doing something wrong until I found out there was a known issue with the drivers. I ordered this serial converter as a last chance solution, ordered it yesterday, it came today and it was recognised immediately by my 2013 Macbook Pro. I can't say if it was something I did previously but it just works, even though I can't get any other solution to work. I can't recommend this enough especially at this price. Give it a try, it may be the answer to the cp21** mac driver issue. Also DSD Tech offer 12 months warranty and LIFETIME support.

Drivers are a pain to find
Does wha it says on the tin really.Bit of a pain to find the drivers, as wouldn’t work without and windows couldn’t find them automatically.Case is needlessly large for the PCB. Would have been much nicer if this was sorted.
