The way a car window is built, you can't just hit it with your hand or foot and break it out. tempered glass, multiple layers, and all that jazz makes it hard to remove a window so you can escape a vehicle if you can' get the door open. Unless you can concentrate all that energy into a very small area. lets take an example. Take your finger, and try to poke it into a bulletin board. you won't get too far. but using the same amount of force, and pushing a thumb tack, you can usually bury that sucker easily. this is because you are concentrating all of the energy into that single point.These hammers work the same way. when you look at them, they don;t have a flat surface, but come to a point. they don't have the heavy weight of a 2 point claw hammer, but they do have enough to crack and shatter a side window. they also contain a blade in the handle to cut a seat belt, in case the belt mechanism is stuck and preventing escape. Bright orange makes them easier to see in the dark.So they won't really work on the front window. those things are a multi-layered laminate that is designed not to shatter. use this on your side windows. Also as a side note, they do work from the outside, too, in case you're trying to rescue someone from a vehicle, or pulling people from the back seat.I got the four pack - one went to my car, one to my spouses, and the rest went to relatives for christmas presents.

Very useful item. I like the fact that can be place anywhere in your car.Remember to place this item in a place you can reach in a emergency situation, in the trunk wont be useful if you need to get out of your car .Cons: it would it be nice if it comes with a two face tape or a hook up base.It have 3 holes that can be use to screw it to your dash but you probably dont want to do that to your car.Other than the hook up stuff it is a nice an useful itam.---- This review is absolutely base on my personal use of this product and I they didnt offer a free sample or discount for the review.

I bought these after taking a child seat safety class so that I could cut seat belts or break glass in case of emergency. It comes with a mounting holster, but requires drilling to mount permanently. I don’t think double sided tape would hold well during a crash, potentially make this item a projectile upon impact. I felt that the center arm rest was probably the best place for it. It’s not a super high quality piece and I wouldn’t buy it if it were, I hope I never have to use it and I have no doubt that it will serve its purpose if I ever do need it.

not going to return it because it looks like it might do the job and I don't want to deal with the hassle but not as solid as I expected. the body of the tool/handle is hollow plastic. much cheaper quality then I am accustomed to for tools and especially for something that is for emergencies, this is a item that should be solid. I want to know I can depend on it. Will continue to look for something better.at the very least, it will work to break someone window incase a baby or dog is locked in a hot car this summer. it might not save my life if I drive off a cliff but it can safe some puppy dogs and babies.

Got the 4 pack to be able to have one in reach or each front seat in 2 vehicles. This type of emergency product needs to be reachable by an occupant with a locked seat-belt, so I will likely be putting them on the sides of the seat base by where the adjustments are. I truly hope these will never be needed, but inspection shows them to be decently put together and they should perform properly if ever needed.

Fantastic product, and incredible price for two of them WITH wall holders if you choose to use them. I keep one in each car in case I have to break a window because of some ignorant @#$HO%3 leaving a dog or child in a hot car.
