A fabulous product!
I purchased this for my twenty-month old granddaughter for Christmas, and I (and she) could not be any more in love with a toy.At first I hesitated to spend this much money for a set of blocks, but you know what they say about grandparents spoiling the grandchildren. She loves blocks of all kinds, and I thought the idea of the magnets sounded pretty neat. When I opened the shipping package, I was a little taken aback that I had spent this much money for such a small item. The blocks are in a solid box that is approximately 6x6x4.But it's when the girl opened the box that the fun began. First of all, the blocks are lovely. They are beautifully finished in pastel colors. The finish is as smooth as a fine piece of furniture, and they click and slide easily. They attract each other, they repel each other, they can build fantastical objects or mundane objects. They can be tightly linked together to form solids, or they can be linked in other ways to make bridges, cages for little animals, and much more. Some of the best features:- A lovely "idea" booklet is included.- The magnets are so deeply embedded in the blocks that both my son and I spent time wondering "How do they do that?"- Toddlers love blocks, and they also love to knock block structures down; these blocks do not stray far from their brothers, so lost blocks may be a thing of the past.- The packaging is simple, but sturdy - very understated, rather than showy.- As an added plus, the company is devoted to sustainable business practices and the blocks are made in Honduras, where the employees are paid working wages, and much of the profit goes to reforestation (I may be overstating, but you get the idea).- The blocks will not get old; I envision adding to her set for many years to come.My advice: do not let the apparently dear price dissuade you; these blocks are worth every penny.

Expensive, Not Nearly as Fun as You'd Expect, Way Better Options Out There!
Update 5 years later and the blocks are all peeling and losing their paint even though they’re untouched in a box. Whatever paint was used isn’t adhering to the wood over time.==========These are really WAY overrated and not nearly as fun to play with as you'd expect by just looking at them. We also paid less ($56) than they're now asking ($75+!!!) and still feel underwhelmed! And that's rare, usually getting a good deal is enough to satisfy, but these blocks are really ALL HYPE and not so much in the way of fun.The magnets are TOO strong and kids are actually limited in their building options because the blocks can only fit a certain way. So instead of building big impressive structures quickly like with MagnaTiles (which are awesome!) or even traditional Legos, etc, building things is more geared to making the odd prefigured designs they feature on their packaging. Incidentally, the makers could really spend less time and $ on packaging and advertising claims about sustainability and blah blah. They make all kinds of outlandish claims about how their company is planting more trees than they use and all kinds of dubious nonsense. They're a business like any other.I can only assume because of the packaging, that they intended to have non-painted (natural wood) blocks but probably couldn't sell them because kids don't care about natural wood grain, etc. Remember the plain-wooden train sets they had in doctors' waiting rooms? These blocks are kind of the modern equivalent. Fun for about two minutes, then on to the cool toys! People without kids of their own shouldn't be in the toy biz. Sorry, just being real. The blocks are meh at best, and super expensive to boot!

Awesome Blocks - Encourages Self Play!
These are great magnet blocks and the best part is they encourage self play! We bought them for our 8 month old son who loved them right away. He figured out how to pull them apart and I would make a funny "oh" sound and he would laugh so hard. Now he loves to stick them to anything he can, especially the baby gate. He is not "building" anything with them yet but they are still providing great entertainment. And when my nephews, 3 and 4, come over they are obsessed with trying to build things with these. Great toy for your child and gift for a child ages 8 months - 5 years old. Maybe even older I just can't attest to it :)

Well-made magnetic blocks
These are very impressively made and the magnetism works well. I gave these to my precocious 2-year-old nephew who plays with them often. They are safe for him to nibble on, too. His parents were very pleased with the gift, and I can add to the set later
