smart toy but will not last long
product did not turn on at first. When I opened the motor, cables were not properly soldered and I had to fix the issue myself. And plastic connectors between gear shaped components are very week. Do not buy if your kid's planning to "play with it", if this is for decoration, then go ahead..

Ok as a play toy . Sorta terrible as a construction toy.
This was a present for my 5 y.o. He couldn't do anything with the construction on his own. Ok, it says 6+. So, my 8 y.o. was helping him out. Said 8 y.o. Has put together 1000 piece LEGO sets entirely on his own, thus I'm confident he should be skilled enough to put this together. He got partway through and then gave up. I helped the rest of the way. The 5 y.o. liked how the rest of it looked as it went together and wanted to turn it on as we completed each step. I guess that's a good thing since he was having fun.I suspect the reason the 8 y.o. gave up is because it's really hard physically to put the pieces together. The pieces are very tight, but not in a secure way, just in a difficult to put together way. They're not particularly well made. I put on piece in the wrong place and needed to remove it. It was one of the pieces with 4 small pegs. It was difficult to get apart, and though I was careful, one of these pegs broken as I pulled it apart.Long story short: don't count your kid on Winn able to assemble on their own. While I don't particularly care for the weird aesthetics, the toy isn't for me and my kid likes the way it looks. It seems to be enjoyable as a play toy. So that earns it one extra star for a total of 2. I don't have faith that it will last very long, hence the reason it's not getting any more.

in particular the 4-pin connectors break easily when trying to re-position
My 7 year-old son received this kit as a gift. He's quite adept at most building kits, but found this to be very frustrating. The quality of the materials is low; in particular the 4-pin connectors break easily when trying to re-position. The gear connectors are impossible to remove with kid-strength and requires a lot of adult assistance. The kit really isn't amenable to rebuilding and creative play after the first build is complete, and the play-value of the finished robot is low. My kids ignored it after 5 minutes and complained the entire time they were building.

Good concept, but not easy to assemble.
It is really hard to put together, and once you put it together, you can’t take it apart. That means if you accidentally put in the wrong piece, you will have hard time to separate it.
