got the next two from a different seller and while they do work with frstick it's a crap shoot and very frustrating
HDMI went out on our old tv so we purcjased these. First one didn't work, even though it said it would with a firestick...got the next two from a different seller and while they do work with frstick it's a crap shoot and very frustrating. Second one intermittently worked and both do not upscale as stated very well or at all! We never got full 720 let alone 1080 anything. Picture was unstable, fuzzy and shall often and ratio has no adjustment. We gave the second one to my dad, it works for his recording decently enough and sent the 3rd one back for a refund because it failed more than it worked. I do think they have enough power in the cord it comes with either, but while one worked with a different usb and charger I had alrwady; the other two would not and made the firestick over heat severely. Good idea but needs much work before they are worth a penny! Got a new television instead, lol and it was worth the 400 dollars and no frustration.

I bought this device to hook my Nintendo Switch up to an older television- and it WORKED!
I purchased this product in order to connect my Nintendo Switch to my older television which lacks an HDMI port. The setup took maybe ten minutes, tops. The USB power source for the device can be powered by the Switch's external USB port. The Switch's HDMI cable fits snugly into the device's HDMI port. A simple set of RCA chords (Not included, but they're so common you can probably get them at a gas station) connected the device to my TV. Once I found the right video option on my television, the Switch menu appeared with very little lag time. Admittedly, the picture isn't perfect right from the start so you do have to play around with the resolution and color options in the Switch's settings menu in order to get it just right, but the games play perfectly fine. So if you want to take your Switch over to a friend or relative's house where there aren't any HDMI compatible TVs or if you want to buy a Switch but don't want to invest in a whole new TV, this is an economical and simple to use solution.

Lesson learned- don’t ignore the (well thought out) negative reviews!
This is a cheap inconsistent product- find something elsewhere- this is a waste of money, and more importantly TIME. I wasted many hours trying to troubleshoot this. There’s a signal, then there’s no signal... My cable provider was here today to fix a WiFi issue and he tested everything. It is indeed this so called “converter”. The signal is not recognized due to illfitting connections. The hdmi cable doesn’t make proper contact. I’ve been trying to get this to work since February- (thought I was doing something wrong) and now I’m past my return window. Seriously- Save yourself....... don’t buy it!!

Total junk
I paid $14.99 for this thing and it’s not worth a dime. Looks to have been repaired, not new. Takes a power cord, which is a foot long, and only plugs into USB unless you have an extra adapter. I know taking pics of TVs don’t always look great, but this is to show that it flashes “no signal” with the unit just sitting there, it has snow running through it even with no input, and it is only showing black and white. Definitely returning it, and I haven’t decided if I got a dud or if I’m goi g with another company. To compare, I plugged in a $20 store-bought Pac-Man game that runs off batteries, and the video is crystal clear. It’s not the TV, and all wires and components are brand new.

This converter is awful. I normally don't class products as (1), but this converter locked up my VCR/DVR recorder and I couldn't get my dvd disc out. This has never happened before. I had to shut off the power and unplug unit from the wall several times before my dvd tray finally opened. I quickly unplugged this gadget and put it back in the box to send it back. It appeared used when I received it and I think that is probably why it was sent back before.

No warp speed here Mr. Scott.
Package arrived and I was excited to hook my fire stick up to our living room beast. Finally old school TV comes back to life, but the converter does not have enough power to push the fire stick. It keeps rebooting and says no signal. Damn well thank go I purchased this with points.

DO NOT BUY THIS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE
Worthless junk. This is supposed to be a downscaler. The box and manual both say HDMI to AV. The device itself even says input at the HDMI port and output at the RCA end but if you look right on the top of the device it says UP scaler. I swear these chinese factories pump out the absolute worst junk out there. I wonder at times if it's a contest between amazon and ebay. Who can offer the junkiest stuff.

I’m giving this a 2 because it may be other equipment causing my problem. If I were sure it would get a zero. I have a firestick plugged into the converter and the converter to a tv via rca cables. It does work for a few minutes and then it cuts off. I try again and it works but cuts off again. It only works if powerered directly through the provided cable (unlike some of the reviews suggested.)
