The Inventors' Specials 6 DVD Collector's Set

This is an excellent set of videos for middle school integration. The historical fiction that reveals how these scientists worked without cease to prove their theories and ideas helps our young scientists to better understand the scientific process. I have the old set in VHS and was excited to learn that it was now in DVD format. My order was processed quickly and arrived in a timely manner. I can't wait for school to start so I can share these videos with my students.

These DVDs have been an excellent learning tool for my four homeschooled children. My teenager enjoyed it as much as my seven year old. The story of Galileo was a little frightening at times because the Middle Ages were so dark and spooky, with great thinkers of the time rolling down the cobble stone streets of Rome in wooden cages being taken to their execution, being burned at the stake....very perky! But the actual execution was never shown, only inferred, and only my oldest understood the depth of the ramifications of going against the church with such heretic ideas like the earth actually revolves around the sun, and not the other way around. And though I wasn't comfortable with the feeling of that DVD, my kids still learned so much from it and all the others. It was a great leaping off point for us to go to the library and get more books on each featured inventor.My kids' favorite one is the story about Issac Newton and how gravity is the attraction between not just celestial bodies, but between people too.All my children can speak comfortably about each featured inventor and his/ her accomplishments. They really understand the contribution these great minds made.I highly recommend them.

Each story is a historical-fictional account of an inventor. They are well written and filmed on location. I love the accurate costumes and sets. My students love the humor. Perfect for providing a broader perspective than the paragraph granted each in the textbook. Presented from a Christian world view I use them in my 4th-8th grade Christian school classes.

This is an amazing series - I bought the original ones on VHS - wore them out and then bought the DVDs. Check your pricing when you buy - this merchant is the best.

I was excited to get these DVDs-- mostly because I can change the language over to Spanish and practice with stories that are moderately familiar. These did the trick. Younger members of the family have found them useful for educational purposes (language learning aside) as well.

My nephew loved these DVDs. They are engaging and educational for any budding scientist...and his/her parents. Also good for a classroom.

These are incredibly well done movies that even on an adult level are a joy to watch, leave it to Canada to do such a great job. You can watch them with your kids and have wonderful talks about what motivated the characters in them to go after their ideas, even when there was incredible opposition. After seeing them however, I wondered, why haven't there been bigger movies made about these people? They're certainly more interesting than a lot of the fictional characters they come up with nowadays.

Love these when they first came out and used them fir home schooling. I thought they were well done and my children learned about some pretty important inventors, they helped us retain some facts about the inventors. Helped us connect with what they were up against.
