Comprehensive resource for research
An excellent resource for study about civil rights and racism. The Filipino workers who participated in the Delano Grape Strike started the struggle for higher wages and better living condition for all farm laborers yet their story is often overshadowed by the work of Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta. Thankfully, Brimner gives due credit to Filipinos as main characters in the struggle. Black and white photos show some of the thousands of workers who picketed work sites. Green and purple accents on many pages highlight text in both English and Spanish. Political cartoons portray the mood of both worker and grower. There is mention of braceros, including a one-page introduction with photograph. Maps, timeline, and list of additional resources, both print and web.
