I'd give it six stars if I could.
The artwork is totally stunning. So detailed and remarkable I stared at it for days before I put a pencil to it. I still haven't colored on it much because I want to take my time to do it justice. If you are a fan of dragons this is the perfect book. If you love LOTR then you must have this one.Now for the particulars. I've seen A LOT of complaining in the reviews. Some of them are clearly people that don't understand greyscale coloring. Greyscale isn't like your old fashion black lines where you fill in the spaces. You have two different variety . One is the photographic. A photographer will take black and white which the lighten making it possible to color. The other is the drawing. Usually done in sketch style like this book. There are variation of light to dark. The idea being you use your darkest color on the darkest shading then vary your shade to match until you get to the lightest shade. This creates a highly realistic look that resembles a drawing or photo. They are beautiful finished products. The other complaint I have seen is the style of this book. It is a Panoramic. Not a page book. The title and the description both say so. That being said I like the small size and the panorama. It gives you a unique version of the artists view. The size is nice if you are like me and you have accumulated a collection of such things it doesn't take up a great deal of room. There are perforations where it can be taken out of the cover, however I can see that being an issue. It would leave it unprotected. All in I think this one is amazing. Totally frame able when finished.

so beautiful!
I just received this and as others have noted, it's too beautiful to mess up! So I'm trying to decide whether to buy a second copy before I attack it with my pencils or markers. No regrets.

I'm in love with this.
I decided to give adult coloring books and artists colored pencils for everyone on my list his year. I spent hours looking at coloring books in several stores and wasn't really happy with anything I saw. Then, while standing in the check out line at Michaels I spied this book on their magazine rack. Absolutely PERFECT. The problem was they only had one and I needed at least four. This led to several more hours calling every possible source in a 2 state area. Every one was sold out and had more on back order...As usual, Amazon had them. Eventually, I did get the 4 I needed. I tell you this to illustrate just how wonderful this book is. The format of the fold out pages reveals a continuous scene of mystical wonder, however you can easily separate the pages and each one is a complete picture in its'' own right. The art work and illustration is indescribably beautiful. You can see from the cover picture just how minutely detailed the pictures are. For this reason the book really is for adults. One of the ones I bought is for myself. I can't wait to start it.....a great escape into the land of make believe awaits me.

Advanced, and Gorgeous!
I truly would give this 6 stars. I love John Howe's work, and this is some of his best work! I received this as a gift, and have not colored it because I can't stand the thought of not doing it justice, so I got another copy to make mistakes on. I'm an advanced colorer, so am prepared with pencils that have metallics to add that extra touch parts of a dragon need. But mostly I am waiting to be ready to tackle this amazing book.I would advise getting two, or even three, because both sides of the "pages" are printed, and I'd like to leave some attached to each other, and others separate off and color individually. The pictures run across several pages. There is a grid in Coloring Dragons that encourages the artist to experiment with drawing their own dragon, and definitely be prepared to print this out on heavy paper for several tries.Or buy several copies. It is not an expensive book, so you can get as many as you like. It's incredibly beautiful.

Hours of entertainment!
The media could not be loaded. I love these panoramic style color books and first got the fairy version which I loved! This one definitely did not disappoint! You can color by panel as separate pictures or as a scene, and change up styles of coloring or choose a theme. I am currently deployed during COVID-19, so options for entertainment are limited and this is providing hours of entertainment! Love, love, love!

Not what I expected, but very beautiful
This isn't a typical coloring book. Rather, it's a long, folded, cardstock sketch of dragons in a fantasy setting, which can be unfolded into a long image that would look very nice on a child's bedroom wall. Something simpler with thicker lines might have been better for my seven-year-old, but the artwork is beautiful! Great for colored pencils, but the artwork is too fine for markers or crayons.

Used to have this years ago, still slaps
It's just rare to find actually decent dragons to color and this is so fun to color with pencils! Really happy this exists

Very unique, in a good way!
I'm so excited to color this! It's one big panorama, which is different. The paper is really nice and thick and smooth. The only "drawback" (and I wouldn't take a star away over this) is that since it is one continuous page it's a bigger commitment than the pages of a regular coloring book where you can just pick one page, and finish it in a single sitting. This will probably take me weeks to finish. If I ever manage to get it done, I think it will be a great coffee table piece.

Dragon drawing book
Brilliant to give my granddaughter as she has some drawing skills. John Howe is always good value and he is a brilliant illustrator

My favourite colouring book
This is a beautifully drawn scene over fold-out pages. I like it because it isn't simple to colour - it isn't just 'colour inside the lines'. I have had no difficulty with the pages taking colour. The pages are thicker than just paper, which is great if you like to use watercolour, or oil to blend colours. I loved colouring it so much I bought several copies.

Buyer beware
This is not really a colouring book but actually just a foldout as described. If you're like me and don't pay attention to descriptions, you'll be disappointed. That said, this is beautiful artwork and would be very suitable for a young aspiring artist.
