A good book.
A good book on the theoretical principles of control systems/process engineering - written in W. Bolton's accessible style.

A little dated but a good source of reference information
The text is a little old. The material however is cover well by the author. It will serve well as a reference source.

Good book, wish I had it at uni
This is the control book i wish i had at Uni. Complements uni notes perfectly and gives you a good understanding of the subject by using countless analogies. The key is it brings all the subjects of mechanical engineering together, plus good examples to work through.

A Good Grounding
If your lecturer has recommended some 1000 page monster of a book and your struggling then I suggest you try this. Pitched at the practical minded it is easy to read and understand and has helped me a lot. I tried the recommended text and struggled but reading this book gave me a good grounding in the basics and now the more complex book makes much more sense. I have not read a bad book by this man. If you find it is not deep enough Dutton, Thompson, Barraclough the art of control eng is not a bad next step.
